Abalos laid across his stomach in the long emerald grass beside the mighty oak tree, head rested almost miserably on his forearms as he awaited him. The icy wind manoeuvred around the base of the tree's trunk and harried his fur yet he fought through it. He pulled his limbs closer to himself and began to shiver.

Something soft, something warm and leather-like brushed along his hip. A nose. He didn't need to look back for he knew that his chocolate boy was finally here. The warm flame of his mate's pelt pressed up against his and he shuffled onto his side as Toffee nuzzled up into his stomach and pushed his head up into the curve of his neck. "Sorry for taking so long."

Abalos's heart melted at the purrs rumbling from his mate and he hooked his arms under his, crisscrossing them over his chest and holding him close. "It's okay, love."

Using his tail, Toffee drooped a large blanket over them both and he shuffled to hold Abby's paws in his own as the sun sunk over the horizon.

The two of them stayed together through sunset, listening to only the sounds of each other's breathing and the passion of their hearts, beating in their chests.

Toffee shuffled in his mate's arms, rolling over so they were nose-to-nose, chest-to-chest. "Have I ever really told you how much I love you," he asked quietly, looking away then back to him as a soft blush painted across his muzzle.

"You've tried. But every time you try to tell me I find myself lost in your eyes." he purred, a small smug smile shining on his face.

"Oh stop you piece of bread!" he snarled playfully, growling and reaching up to nip his mate's ear.

"Oi, Mr. Gay, what do you think you're doing?"

Toffee's only reply was a growl. He pushed himself to his paws and laid down on his mates back, licking between his ears. "Ahola cowboy," he smirked then laughed.

Face turning red Abby let out a small laugh and pushed Toffee off then rolled over, putting his paws on his shoulders and pinning him down gently. "No you, chocolate boy."

"Oh shut up," he giggled, pushing his paws into the fur of his mate's chest, slowly sliding them up until he cupped his cheeks in his paws.

Abalos opened his maw to speak but Toffee shushed him, sliding his thumb over his lips. "I love you too." he smiled, slowly pulling his head down until their lips met. He closed his eyes, heart buzzing with the bliss of being with his mate like this. He felt the male return the kiss and they purred in each other's embrace.

As stars littered the sky and eyes closed to rest the two males laid cheek against cheek with each other, snuggled up under a large blanket, safe from the night's cold.
