Chapter VI
-Brutality-
Talon's clawed feed cut groves into the ground as he slowly walked forward; his newly chosen blades at either side. His pale white scales shimmered in the bright light, as did his silver eyes as he cast a baleful gaze around him. He took in what he could from his surrondings, stepping again slowly. Many faces circled what seemed to be a giant pit, but only one drew him.
...Lillith. Her smirk seemed to be all he could see...his target...his duty. But soon the tunnel oppisite to his own dimmed as a shape moved out of it as well. Waiting for it to take form, Talon cracked his neck with a sigh.
"...I'm getting sick of being knocked out."
His foe was indeed picked well for him, it seemed. A massive humanoid walked forward from his side; with a face twisted and scarred into the bone. He carried a massive chunk of twisted metal in his hands, the almost bladelike weapon almost as long as the monster himself. Talon had little time to look his foe over, hovever. Lillith's voice boomed over the roaring crowd.
"Welcome my friends...Welcome to the Trial of Blood!"
The crowd raored in response, the screams of the bloodthirsty spectators deafening to Talon's attuned ears. The beast before him paced back and forth, dragging the metal blade behind him as he glared at him with a hungery gaze.
"We are here to witness the clash of our titan, Behemoth -"
Behemoth. Talon smirked as he heard the name. He noted the fact of what he was, more then he cared for the name. The Titans were a nomadic race of giant ork like humans...most feared them for their ritualistic eating of the dead. Talon cracked his wrists...knowing all too well how strong even a weak one could be.
"And the dragon they call... Lightbringer!"
She eyed him coldly as the crowed boo'ed his name. He knew most were foes of his in some way or another, but he cared not. He knew his time was near, and so he mearly stood, even his massive eight foot frame dwarfed by the huge foe before him. He opened up his stance, cracking his neck with a sigh.
"Let the Blood....BEGIN!"
Suddenly the Titan charged, his massive feet shaking the ground as he roared in bloodlust and berserk rage. His back hand was dragging behind him the huge shard of metal, it's dull edge carving chunks from the earth as it followed him towards Talon; his rage and frenzy adding strength to his grotescly solid body.
Talon ran towards his foe with a roar of his own. He was not afraid to clash blades with even a titan; let alone when he was caged in. The distance closed swiftly. To Talon, everything was moving slowly, even his steps seeming to be moving at a pace that made him feel like he was in a dream...or a nightmare. But soon enough his body slid on the ground as his claws dug in, jumping to the side to just avoid a overhead smash of metal. The ground exploded in a shower of dirt and rocks as the collosal blade pulverized it into submission, a few stray rocks pinging off Talon's scales as he moved. Talon's tail was mear inches away from that one, and he swore as he had no time but to leap away again to avoid the massive weapon that was destroying the ground around him. It was time to act...and fast.
Talon sped away to the other side of the arena, taking leaping bounds as his wings drove him quicky forward. He skid to a stop just below the crowd above him; his eyes intent on the monster that was charging after him. As Behemoth - as it seemed to be called- closed in he jumped. The massive chunk of metal smashed into the wall just below him, stuck in the rock of the arena boundries. The Beast pulled as he could, but it was stuck fast. It was then Talon noticed something - something that he could exploit. The Weapon was not mearly held to Behemeth, it was chained to his arm! Talon had little time to work with, but he thought fast. His silver eyes looked at the blade as his legs tenced. He would only get one chance...
It happened in a blur. Talon leaped, jumping off the wall to land onto the shaking blade. His claws hooked around any grooves they could find solace in, keeping his balance for him. The next few seconds seemed to flash by in an instant. Talon ran up the blade, his swords held out on either side to keep him steady. A step onto the massive shoulder as he leaped forwards over the back of the roaring beast. A massive hand surged up to grab him -perfect. Talon spun into his landing, and a spar of thick black blood followed by a roar rewarded his move. Talon's blade had cut the beast's wrist to the bone, rendering his hand useless...dead. The second strike severed it from the arm in another spray of black blood.
Behemoth roared in both rage and agony as he pulled at his chained weapon; slowly tearing the wall apart with his strength. Talon stood a slight distance away, his eyes glowing a deep pine green. He focused on the wall, feeling it's hardness with his mind, feeling for weak points and internal cracks. A bead of sweat dripped from his maw as he consentrated. A few more pulls and his foe would be free. Talon put a clawed palm forward, breathing slowly. So much rock....
The beast pulled free, swinging his blade over head, a huge gust of displaced air howling as the blade moved. Talon mearly closed his fist, and pulled it back, smirking as the wall quivered in response. His foe turned to face him roaring in defiance and battle lust, standing his ground with a smirk; his distorted and malformed teeth- or what teeth he had- showing to the hot and muggy air.
The wall cracked. A few of the being in the seats above screamed in terror, but to no avail. Behemeth looked back with a grunt, looking at the wall with mild interest and confusion. With a smile, Talon thought of something. If He was going to be forced to fight... he might as well make it a good show. With a whistle, he got the beast's attention.
"Hey ugly."
The titan turned, roaring again as he twisted his body to face the smaller dragon again.
"Eat this."
Talon slammed his hand on the ground, dragging his claws back with a roar. The wall exploded towards him, massive rocks tearing from the wall; only to smash ruthlessly into his foe. The titan staggered for a moment, shaking his massive head.
...Then a bigger piece collided with his thick skull.
Another spay of blood sparyed Talon as the massive beast collapsed just feet from his own body. He was breathing, even if just barly. Talon walked over to place a foot upon his head, roaring in conclution. The screams of the blood thirsty crowd echoed booming in the arena.
"KILL! KILL! KILL!...."
Talon rose his blade over his head, almost lost to the feeling of his victory. He was not one to enjoy a kill but...the screams, the admiration...drove him slightly mad with power. Mad enough that he did not see the titan's hand surge towards him, crushing him in his collosal grip.
Talon choked, suffocated by the pressure. His bones cracked in his chest- not broken, not yet- But cracking slowly as the beast rose to his knees. The world darkened as he strangled for air, one of his blades falling what seemd to be miles away from his grasp. He looked to his other blade with hope, raising it above his head as he gripped it in both hands; plunging it into the finger of his living prison with a chocked roar. The grip was released swiftly, And Talon fell to the ground, hitting the ground with a thud.
The titan staggered, blood leaking from his crushed face and wounded stub that was a hand. Talon stepped back, knowing he had little time to act before he would be crushed by this massive brute fueled by pain and anger. He inhaled, smoke welling from his maw as he jumped up, his eyes glowing and ebbing with red light; like a sun with many solar flairs shooting into space. With a roar, his maw exploded with a fireball; sending it hurtleing towards the beats head with a wave of intence heat.
The blast connected with Behemeth's wounded face, exploding with a shockwave that knocked him off balance. He fell to the ground with a massive tremor, breaking the already ruined wall even further. The beast twitched once, then fell still. Smoke was whisping slowly from his blackened head, the smell of burnt blood thick in the air. Cracking his neck, Talon turned and walked towards his side of the areana, dropping his blade onto the hard ground. The areana already looked decimated; a wall broken, and huge chunks of debris from both groves carved into the ground, and chunks of rock torn from the wall. With out waiting to hear his name, or the roaring crowd, Talon walked into the waiting tunnel, following his guard to the cages.
...But he noted that the guard was quite the bit more polite, and even looked rather amazed. He simply walked back down the tunnel, and towards his cage; the other beasts inside silent with awe. The wolf, Kiarua, Smirked at a fellow inmate - A small rat, and smirked.
"It seems you owe me rations for a week."
