The Foxes view
A soft whimper fell from her lips as the small fox looked over her shoulder, a small tear slipping from her eye. Her home was destroyed. Everything she owned, everything she cared about was gone. Shaking her head, she turned and started walking through the woods. She didn't know where she was going. Nor did she care as long as she didn't see the ruin of her home. She walked about three miles before her matted fur became uncomfortable, but she didn't want to stop.
Once she was certain she was out of sight of her home she stopped and sat down to clean her fur. It looked awful when matted. The red along her back, and sides was dull; the cream of her underbelly, paws, ears, and tail was grungy. Finally her fur was clean so she stood up and continued walking a slight skip in her step now that she was clean.
She kept ever alert and constantly aware of her surroundings. She froze once thinking she heard something to her left. Upon hearing nothing more she started moving again. Without thinking she walked into a bush making it rustle. She looked up just to find herself pinned to the ground by some kind of jackal, maybe a wolf. He was rather large his fur completely black except for gold fur around the rim of its ears. She couldn't help but stare at him no trace of anything other than amazement covering her features.
"Do you not fear me fox? Clearly you were my prey, to feed upon to satisfy my gullet, yet you don't quake in fear, or beg for your life." As she thought the creature was male. His voice was strong and deep, the voice of an alpha. She curled her bushy tail around her belly before responding.
"Why fear something when I have strengths far beyond my tiny size?" She asked her voice soft and lilting as it flowed from her muzzle.
He seemed shocked to hear her voice, almost as if he had been expecting her to sound different. The look of confusion still upon his features, he moved from his position over her and stood gazing down at her. Sitting up she let her eyes roam over him taking in the odd patterns over his fur, specifically the one on his stomach. It looked like an eye but not one she had ever seen. It peaked her curiosity.
"What be your name fox?" He asked looking at her, his head cocked to one side, the expression on his face one of curiosity and confusion. She could only think that his thoughts were revolving around her reaction.
