More cutesy werewolfery shared between Allen and Hannah. Someone should have called Aldwin to finish off that popcorn though. Extra Butter is his favorite! :(

Dad said he's going to be out of town next week to follow up on a lead for the case. He wanted to know if I was all right changing by myself this time around. I must have looked pretty upset when he said that because he crouched down a bit and pressed his forehead to mine, much as he has done ever since I was little whenever the change would get too rough for me near the end. It was calming, and I instinctively pressed back, bringing back good memories and releasing a tension in my shoulders I didn't know I carried. He kissed my brow, messed up my hair, and gave me one of his much too big hugs to my groaning reluctance. He laughed and promised he'd make it up to me next time. Then he said to take it easy around Hannah and not do anything he wouldn't do. That ended that conversation promptly.

Dad can be so dumb sometimes.

Terry and Norman have been keeping their distance ever since last week, but I can't shake off that this isn't over with them yet. I don't think they've told anyone about what happened. I mean who would even believe Norman if he explained that one of his classmates had been becoming something...other. Plus saying that someone like me was able to put the scare on him would wreck any semblance of authority he had built up with the "cool" ones. The worst he could say was that I was a freak, and that wouldn't be too far off from what he was normally doing anyways. I don't think Norman's the kind of person to let matters like this go.

I want to tell them sorry for what happened at the football game but the damage has been done, the rickety frame of any potential bridge between us burned and broken. If he wants to protect Terry that's fine, I get that. I'll protect Hannah the same way if it comes to it again.

Hannah and I got around to making it out to that movie we wanted to watch before. She said she didn't mind seeing it again, even with the terrible CGI effects. I made the mistake of buying one of those extra large popcorn buckets with the butter that ends up pooling at the bottom for us to share. We only made it halfway through eating it, but there was one thing that was nice about it I'm still smiling over. I reached in for a fresh bite and found Hannah's hand scooping up her own handful at the same time. Our fingers somehow navigated the maze of popcorn and found their way laced together. We forgot about any extra bites after that, content to send each other little signals of affection from the small motions of our fingers exploring the other's.

I remember my heart started beating a bit faster, and I thought it was from the main character finally confronting his nemesis in an epic showdown. My feet got uncomfortable in my shoes and I scratched at a building itch on my ankles, not wanting to miss any of the action. Hannah was just watching me for a little while, and when I looked at her surprised she wasn't giving the movie the same attention, she drew an outline around the outside of her ear, trailing it up and out a short ways .

"Changing." she said with a broad smile.

A brief touch along my ear confirmed what she was referring to, the lengthened point still feeling warm to the touch. I chuckled sheepishly and pulled my hood up over my head to finish the movie together. When I walked her home, I asked if we could go a slightly longer way through the park. She was uncertain, citing the time, but I asked her to trust me. She did.

Once I knew that we were safely out of view, I knelt down and undid my shoes, then slipped off my socks and stuffed them inside to show Hannah what I had been feeling towards the end of the movie.

Thin stretches of light-gray fur had grown in on the tops of my feet and toes which trailed up my heels a short ways before disappearing beneath the cuff of my pants. My nails had darkened and grown out into the beginnings of blunted claws while underneath the pads of my feet were discolored and had thickened a bit into the start of brown, canine-like pads. I wiggled and splayed my mixed toes and she gave off a good laugh.

"You look like some kind of yeti." she had said with a grin.

"Um, I guess so." I had told her in response, happy to see her smiling.

"And that's not a bad thing." she reassured me, grabbing my hand so we could walk together. I tied my shoes to hang at my hips around empty belt loops, and walked freely with her through the dark of the park until we came to the lights of people once more.

I didn't feel as embarrassed this time having my changes in the open as I had when I first showed her my tail. I'm really thankful to her for that. More than I think she really knows.

I hope me and her can do more things like this soon.

It was a lot of fun.

Tomorrow's definitely going to be a changing day. I've been restless in class and out of sorts all afternoon. Mom knows I won't be coming straight home after school tomorrow, and heading straight to the woods. I've got my night pack already taken care of. I'll keep that stashed in my locker until I head out. She doesn't know about Hannah though and I'm planning on keeping it that way. It's easier than having her lecture me and ramble on and on about how irresponsible I'm being and all that crud. I decided to bring her with me so she can see what it's like since she's asked about it, and...I want to show her. I want her to see what I'm like, and I don't want to hide the wolf or anything about me from her. I'm pretty nervous about it, but she's been so understanding that I have to trust that everything will work out.

I've only ever changed completely in front of dad or other family before we had to move because of the accident from before. Man, it's been a while since I've thought about it. I still have dreams sometimes where I see his face all scratched up and my breath gets tight from my dad's arms hauling me off. Then the dream changes and I feel all of that rage rise and fall again and again with each new thing I have to stuff in a cardboard box that's soggy on one side. The dream always ends the same way with me turning my hands over to see blood on my claws dripping down and I scream. I'm glad I haven't had that dream at all since I've met Hannah.
