I lay in bed, trying to force myself awake. The sunlight came through my window in the morning, which made it near impossible to see anything when you wake up. I tried to open my eyes, but shut them almost immediately. I face planted the pillow and dosed off again.

I was woken up by an angry mother yelling from the bottom of the stairs, "Get up or you're going to be late for school again!". I just laid there, motionless.

"I SAID GET UP!" my mom yelled once again. I tossed around onto my back and yelled back "I'm Up!" then mocked my mom under my breath, the usual morning routine.

I jumped out of bed, blindly trying to find my way to the door, I ran across to the bathroom, turned the shower on and brushed my teeth as I waited for the water to find the right temperature. I spat the remaining toothpaste into the sink and washed it away with the tap water. I headed over to the shower door, looked at it braced myself for the shock of the water hitting me.

Once I got in the shower how-ever it was fine. I grabbed the shampoo as my fur started to become matted. I rubbed the shampoo into my fur and washed it away, I stood under the water with one hand on the wall, using it to lean against. I stepped out, dried myself and headed back over to my room, I looked at my school uniform and sighed, the thought of being able to wear your own clothes on the weekend was like a gift, an award for putting up with the know it all teachers. I got dressed, headed downstairs and ate breakfast.

My mom had already left for work, and my dad was just about to leave, he called back before closing the back door "Have fun at school!". I looked up and said "I'll try" forgetting I milk in my mouth, it dripped down my muzzle following the contours. I wiped it off, grabbed my bag and sorted the books I'd be needing for the day then headed out after grabbing my phone and my iTouch.

I walked down to the bus stop, untangling my earphones as I went. As soon as I put one in, I heard the familiar call of my best friend, Kayla. She was a small tigress, yellow with jet black stripes going horizontally on her back and one vertically going down her snout. I could only take her in small doses, but she was the friend who you listened to because the advice she gave was honest, and reliable advice. If you pissed her off, you were done for!

I looked across the street to see her waving, I waved back and crossed the road to meet. "Hey!" I said, she just replied with "It's cold today... Don't you think?". Kayla was one of those people who need to question everything. She had every detail in the questions she asked and the answers she gave. I shrugged and said "It's not too bad, least it's not like last year...". We both thought back and shivered looked at each other and laughed.

The bus arrived, Kayla got on before me as always and I greeted the bus driver with a "morning!". He rarely replied and today he didn't. We found our seats and sat down, we don't really talk on the bus. I normally read up on notes whilst listening to my iPod and Kayla is normally prowling the bus and yelling at the new comers to sit down.

We arrived at school, I ran off to my group and began talking and Kayla, as usual followed behind. I felt a tap on my shoulder, a light tap, as if the person was nervous. I turned around and saw Narei. Standing there, looking at the floor with his books in his crossed arms. He looked so cute! "You ok? You don't normally come round to see me in the mornings... or afternoons for that matter" I said with a small grin.

"Yeah... " He paused for a moment as if thinking what to say "I.. um.... Just wanted to give you the details of this party!". I agreed and got the details and off he went. My eyes followed him as he walked off. I turned around to see eyes staring at me, beneath those eyes were wide smiles. I nervously spoke "Wh.. what?". They all laughed and Kayla said "You've really got to keep to one person Luke, if Kyle finds out, you're on your death bed... you know how protective his mom is... sometimes"

I chuckled "Kyle... Won't mind, it's not like it's the first time he's split up with me... I often think it's better is me and Kyle just you know... stayed apart for longer than 5 hours" I said with a sigh. Kayla smiled and walked away, playfully nudging me out of the way. The bell rang, oh that awful bell. We all dispersed into our first lesson.

Lunch finally arrived and everyone crammed the doors to get out onto the campus, I took the long way around the front through reception. Which always seems to be faster, "Hey Luke!" I heard that familiar voice before, I turned around to see an out of breath Narei "Luke, glad... I caught... you." he said as he tried to get his breath back. "Yeah, I'm worried about you... First morning recess and now lunch? What's up?" I asked.

I looked up at me, as if to say what do you think, the conversation last night? but no, he said "I just wanted to hang with you today, if that's cool with you?", I responded "Yeah, that's fine, hey, I'm taking the next two lessons off. You coming with?".

Narei pondered for a moment, "yeah sure! I got two free I think. Town or staying on campus?". I Iooked at him, as if should know the answer. He got it and said "Oh I see... You have lessons, so you can't be on campus otherwise you'll get caught?" I nodded and walked, assuming he would follow, which he did. We both headed down town, into a small cafe and ordered two hot chocolates, found a seat at the back and sat down opposite each other.

I stirred my hot chocolate, and looked up out the top my head, then I raised my head as I noticed Narei was looking a me. I asked "What? You've been staring for the past 5 minutes now..." He grew embarrassed and said "You...ummm.. looked cute just then, concentrating on stirring your hot chocolate" with a cheeky grin plastered across his muzzle. He looked down as I began to frown slightly and said "I'll stare at you then, for a change" this of course wasn't true, I stared at Narei any chance I got in the day.

He was the hottest wolf I, myself had ever seen. Grey, with a white muzzle and deep brown eyes. They were almost black and gave everything a reflection. He had a black line going from the top of his head which seemed to go on to the tip of his tail. I say seemed, as I haven't seen him without a shirt on. His ears twitches as I whispered something to myself, he looked up, breaking my day dream an asked "What did you say?", I wasn't prepared to lie about what I said, and came out truthfully and said "I said that you were beautiful.". He stared at me, longingly into my eyes and said "Shut up" with a cheeky grin on his face, that grin always makes my heart melt inside me.

We finished our hot chocolates, paid and began to walk back up to the school grounds to wait for the busses. Kayla came out to greet us both, and she looked at me with a smile and said "You're still at it?", Narei had no idea what she was on about, and was dumb stricken when I replied "No, no I'm not! I really do love him". I realised what I said and tried to cover up. Kayla ruffled my fur and said "You're cute, we will talk on the bus... when your lover isn't here" she said with a wink. Narei turned to me and asked me "Was that true? What you just said?" I answered with "Yeah... Hey! Can't wait for the party tomorrow!" Narei noticed what I did and followed along with "Yeah, going to be great! You'd better show up! I know what you're like... Bye!" he said with a wink. I shouted "Bye" back at him and walked to my bus thinking "why is everyone winking today?!".

Kayla sat there, waiting for me to join her. I sat next to her and she immediately said "So, was that whole lovey dovey crap back then true?" I giggled turn to look at her and went "Yeah." She followed my response with "What about Kyle?". I stopped to think for a moment, and answered "Well, I could just tell him it's over. For the LAST time?" Kayla repeated me, and added a little on "You tried that before, and you caved in and let him back into your life.". I ran my paw through my fur to move it out of my eye and monotonously said "This time, I fucking mean it." Kayla gasped at how serious I became suddenly. She joked around and purred "You're hot when your serious" I nudged her a little and said "You know you already turned me once, it's not happening again" followed with a wink.

I got home, unlocked the door and poured myself a coke, grabbed a bag of chips and ran upstairs to get changed and jump on my computer... The computer, well I based my life around that thing. A few hours of playing various video games. My mom came home and came up to my room peered in and questioned me about my day at school, you know, the usual. My dad came home an hour later and proceeded in asking the same questions about school.

"LUKE! DINNERS READY!" my dads voice boomed around the house, I jumped up and ran down the stairs to scoff it all, tidy up the kitchen, barely saying a word to my parents. My parents are used to this sort of treatment from me. They think it's the "Teenage Stage". Tonight, I wanted an early night. I checked the time... it was 8:30pm. I thought to myself "talk about early!" took my clothes off leaving just my boxers, I scratched my chest and got under the covers. Sleep finally took, followed with dreams of Narei.
