The Aurora's Explanation

(Junior's POV)

"Do you remember me?" The large blue creature asked me. My ears twitched. The previously tensed and ready to fight Pokemon eased back. Sitting down, it began to stare at me. The feeler like things on its side continued to flow although much slower than before. I shivered from it's odd movement. It gave me goosebumps. It looked too much like odd, white slimy tentacles.

"I-I don't know.. should I?" I replied.

"Ok you don't remember him, can I beat the shit out of him now?" Blaziken roared.

"No need for violence you know." The blue creature calmly stated.

"Bull fucking shit! That fucking bite hurt you asshole!" The large dual type exclaimed, wrists crackling from the intense flames. The beast only shook his head in response.

"Wouldn't have done so if you hadn't yelled out how much you wanted to fight me. It was all in self-defense." He said in his deep voice. It oddly made my tail sway. Why are you wagging? Stop! I thought angrily. I still hadn't understood tail control like Lucario did. Besides basic functionality like happiness and fear I never really understood the damn appendage.

When the blue creature finished his statement Blaziken simply growled. As much as he hated to admit it, which he did, the other Pokemon was right. Had it been an assassin or any other hostile being, Blaziken would've gotten us killed. His rash thinking always got him into trouble. Hell, the store incident was enough for me to stop allowing them into Pokemarts.

Zoroark suppressed an audible chuckle. Blaziken took notice but was too annoyed to say anything about it. "Told you." Zoroark teased. Lucario looked confused as all hell. Glancing at the creature than at me. His Bone Rush slowly evaporated into thin light blue particles.

"Wait... What's happening? How do you know Junior?" The jackal cautiously questioned. The large beast stared at me for awhile. A content look plastered on his muzzle.

"Follow me. Junior, you want to go back to being a human am I correct? Or at least something you're comfortable with?" My large ears perked up. My three friends glanced back at me. Relieved faces on each of them.

"So.. you can change him back? Like, to a human?" Lucario inquired, from behind his tail wagged a storm. He must've been really excited to see me back to normal. Or at least out of that form. As cool as it was to be a gigantic beast, I missed being a human. Hell I'd even settle for being a Shifter.

"Yes once we venture to the lake. Although, your human partner isn't allowed to follow. The lake doesn't accept full blooded humans." He stated. I glanced at Axel who was looking at us behind Tyranitar's massive arm.

"He says you can't follow us right now. The lake doesn't accept humans..." For a moment, his gaze fell before looking back up. A fake content smile on his face.

"No worries! Tyranitar and I can wait here to inform Zero and Akio if they pass by. Just don't forget to come back!" He exclaimed. "Come on, let's shoot some rocks into the air to hopefully get Zero's attention." Axel stated, raising his arms behind his head and casually walking a couple feet away.

"Yes Mast-uh.. Axel." Tyranitar awkwardly pronounced. He really wasn't too familiar calling his trainer by his name.

"Junior," The blue beast said, snatching my attention. "The aroma of blood tainting your fur. How long have you had it?" The creature inquired. The air suddenly became filled with dread. Lucario's and Zoroark's ears were oddly flattened. Even Blaziken looked at me with his cautious glare. What's wrong with them? I thought. And what's he talking about blood? I don't have any blood on me. The creature squinted their eyes at me. Staring me down.

"I never expected you to be a murderer Junior. Robin must be disappointed the prophecy is becoming reality." He grimaced. My ears instinctively fell flat.

"H-How do you.."

"How do I what Junior? Know your mother's name? Simple, I helped her raise you. But before you ask, no I'm not your father. That info is still to be kept from you." He stated. My interest peaked at the mention of my father. Besides the odd timed visit, which I wasn't even conscious for, I never heard much of him. I at least KNEW my mother but nothing on my father besides his name. Hell I wasn't even sure it was his real name or not.

"Wait.. why?" I asked hoping to learn something from the creature. Unfortunately he only turned his back on us, motioning us forward with his head.

"No time to explain, the group following you and your team will be here in due time. We have to cure you of your ailment first so your trail can't be tracked. Now follow me, if you want to live." He commanded. The beast began walking forward not looking back to see if we followed. The flowers and grass he walked past were left with fresh dew drops. They even looked more alive than previous.

Naturally, my curiosity overflowed my common sense as with one paw after the other, I walked in the strange creature's direction. A sudden grab of my hind leg made me stop. I turned my head to see Zoroark's paw.

"OK so I know you want to get everything fixed, but you're acting rash Junior. We don't even know what this Pokemon's true intentions are. You have been attacked so much and you still act selfishly and idiotic." Zoroark exclaimed. Instinctively my ears flattened. "B-But.."

"But nothing. I don't mean to come off as aggressive, that's Blaziken's job but as a friend.. I just want you safe dude. Let us go first if you're so persistent on following that Pokemon."

"Yeah! Junior remember we're here for you and Typh is still knocked out." Lucario jumped in. A gear went off in my mind. My gaze trailed behind me to the badger who had his arms gently around me. His weight on my back was too familiar to the point of forgetting he was unconscious because of my blinded rage. I whimpered. I didn't give a shit about turning back into a human. Not being targeted by assassins, having strength I wasn't used to. I would've given that all up only for my mate to awaken.

Meekly, I nuzzled Typhlosion's arm. Not a response. I whimpered.

"I know what you're thinking, but he's not dead Junior." Lucario reassured. I half smiled. "He's just unconscious, his aura is weak sure but it resembles when he's asleep. So it shouldn't take much longer Junior!" My tail wagged a storm. The happiness that spread around my body was overwhelming.

"OK now I'll take the lead from here in case that mon tries anything. You two stay behind Junior in case of sneak attacks." Blaziken ordered. For once Zoroark and Lucario willingly agreed with him.

"Now let's go. Time to get you back to normal Junior." Blaziken said, smiling a bit as he lead us ahead.

...

It didn't take us long to catch up to the still unknown Pokemon, who chuckled upon noticing us. "Nice of you all to join me. The Lake is just past these bushes." He said, signaling with his left paw at the large green bush. It must've been at least six feet tall and human length wide. The color of it's green leaves seemed brighter than most.

Without another word, the mysterious creature seemingly walked through the grassy pile. It seemed to have swallowed him up upon being disturbed. Hesitantly, Lucario walked past us but stopped at the bush. His breath was unsteady. He fidgeted with his paws for a few moments, gathering enough courage to press onward.

"H-Here goes nothing." The jackal said, cautiously moving his paw into the vibrant green. He closed his eyes and walked in. The bush instantaneously reshaped itself to hide any traces of passage.

"Lucario? You there?" I inquired. Not a single word was uttered. Fear began building in the pit of my stomach. Hesitation and fear kept my feet from inching forward.

"I'll check on him. Hold on." Zoroark volunteered. Without a second thought, he jumped into the bush. Just as it did with the two prior, it instantaneously repaired itself.

A few seconds went by before Blaziken sighed and casually walked into it, leaving me alone with a passed out Pokemon and my inner thoughts. My hesitation still kept me from walking into the large bush. Even when I knew it was more dangerous being by myself. I didn't understand what kept me from walking a simple step. Perhaps the fact it could've been a trap or ambush? No, it wasn't any of that. It was anxiety. Anxiety of what were to happen the moment I walked through the passage.

I glanced back to look at Typhlosion's unconscious figure. Didn't know what I was expecting besides an unmoved Pokemon. A sigh escaped my muzzle. The smallest hint of bravery arose from looking at my mate. I had to suck it up and get rid of my cowardice.

"Ok.. let's go.." I said to nobody in particular. I glanced down to shield my eyes and walked into the bush. It prickled as the thorns of the bush passed by my fur. One even cut my hind leg earning a short yelp. My ears instinctively perked in alarm. The red liquid dripped down my leg, stinging every step. It wasn't much pain but was agonizing.

I kept walking regardless. It wasn't until I walked into a tree that I looked around. My eyes were meet with confused stares and tilted heads.

"What were you doing that for?" Zoroark inquired. His arms were folded, similar to Blaziken's. Lucario on the other hand was engaged in a conversation with the blue Pokemon. It was only when I stepped forward did they look at me. Instead of replying, I took the opportunity to look around the area, the sky was casting an ominous orange as it began to set. Dim shadows of leaf pattern scattered the floor from the huge neighboring trees. Multiple fallen trees were fallen. Some scarred and broken. Others just clawed into.

Up ahead was a huge lake with a path intruding the middle. It had a circular ending. A single item was in the middle of it. A mossy stone statue around Lucario's height with a canine head big enough to fit a Pokemon egg. Vines that dangled from it indicated its apparent unuse. The grass surrounding it was darker in shade. From a distance I was barely able to see a pedestal inside the canine's ajar mouth, shown just above the sharp rocky teeth.

I wasn't able to continue my examination as the blue Pokemon tapped my side making me jump. He pulled his paw back from my sudden movement.

"You took longer than expected Junior. About half an hour we waited. Your companions grew worrisome fearing you'd gotten yourself in danger but seems it wasn't the case. Was it building your confidence to trust and follow me? I know how much trouble you had with that as a child." He recollected.

"Wait, child? YOU knew Junior when he was a kid? How? He doesn't even know you!" Blaziken exclaimed. I grew a perplexed expression at the beast. He didn't give any signs of lying but it couldn't have been the truth. I would've known if I was raised by a Pokemon, I would've had some memories even if they were distant and cloudy.

"But, I don't even know you.. and my parents are human. Not human and.. sorry to sound rude but what are you?" I inquired. The beast stared at the mossy statue for a good while before reverting his attention back to me. A happiness of sort filled his eyes.

"My name is Suicune and I had raised you as my own with Robin for awhile. You most likely don't remember because.. Well, just follow me to the altar. It will be explained there." Suicune turned to face my friends. They each snapped to look at the Pokémon. "You three should watch from a distance. It'd be safer on you three if you all watch the reform from here. It has odd effects on Pokemon caught too close." He stopped to glance at Typhlosion for a split second before facing the other three.

"It won't affect this one too much. His body should be resistant enough. Nonetheless you all should get comfortable. The process will take some time."

"Oh um.. Y-Yeah.. Let's just s-sit on this stump?" Lucario happily suggested before he obediently sat down. Zoroark and Blaziken followed suit and sat in science. Blaziken was in between the two canines who shot me guarding glances.

"Saying this right now," Blaziken began, crossing his arms with a snare. "If you try anything and I mean ANYTHING to harm our trainer.. I won't hesitate to attack you you stupid four legged freak." Zoroark and I grumbled upon his insult. A quick look at Zoroark showed his eyes glowing purple in color. I shook my head before he unleashed Dark Pulse on unaware Blaziken. Slowly his eye color reverted to its natural state.

"Asshole." The fox directed at the dual type.

"Shut up, you know who I meant." Blaziken shot back. Suicune stared at the two, shifting back and forth between them.

"Either way... come Junior. Let us get you back to your previous form. You are quite unstable in this one without prior knowledge or training." He warned. Although I didn't understand what he meant, I blindly nodded. Suicune's paws crunched against the fallen leaves. "Also you should be cautious taking your passed out boyfriend with you. It won't be healthy if he were to fall in the lake." My ears perked up but he had already begun to walk to the middle of the lake. I jogged a bit to catch up.

"How easily did you find out?" I inquired. His expression stayed emotionless and fixated on the path. He stopped two feet from the statue before looking back at me.

"Simple, legendary Pokemon have better senses than most regular Pokemon. Smell being one of them."

"Wait.. Legendary Pokemon? You're a legendary?"

"I am. Although native to Johto, I have come here waiting your arrival, Junior The Shifter. I was given exact instructions to not interfere with your journey coming here. So if you had died earlier in your journey, our efforts would've been for nothing." I stayed silent as the fact I wasn't guaranteed to live soaked into my mind. After a short and awkward pause his ribbon like feelers grabbed the wolf amulet from Typhlosion's neck. It grazed my fur, sending a fast cold jolt through my spine. "Stay still for a second so I can wake him up." I nodded and layed down. The grass against my fur itched slightly but I held back my urges to move. I never understood why but I wasn't ever able to stay perfectly still without fidgeting about. Unless I was laying down in which I was as still as a sleeping Geodude.

Suicune loomed over the sleeping badger with the amulet touching our bodies. "Now Junior, do what I say. Action per action. OK?" He said. I nodded my head.

"Think back on a moment when you and Typhlosion were immensely happy. Then say Resurgemus." Suicune phrased. I nodded my head and focused on a very distant, but precious memory.

The moment I had chosen Typhlosion as my starter those many years ago. I remembered the happiness that we both shared when we became destined to start our journey together. The battles we had won, the tough times we went through. Even when I was sick for a few days, Typhlosion (who was a Quilava during that point) stayed by my side day in and day out, cuddling against me to warm me up. He never once left my side even when he got hungry. All that helped strengthen our bond to taboo limits.

My chest felt lighter. It was a warm, pleasant feeling. Then, without hesitation I blerted out. "Resurgemus."

Within a few seconds the amulet glew a bright green. Slowly it enveloped Typhlosion's body, eerily spreading from his feet to head. He looked like a glow in the dark toy.

I was forced to close my eyes as the powerful light reflected off the nearby water. Even through my closed eyelids the ominous green hue shined. A minute had passed before a low grumble caused a smile to appear on my face. I reopened my eyes and slowly rolled the pokemon off my back. He slumped down on his belly with a soft thud. I turned to face the reawakening badger, my tail wagged which caused the lake water to ripple.

"Groooah.... Who.. Junior? Is that you babe? Wh-What- urr. My damn.. throat hurts." Typhlosion managed to croak out. His voice was indeed hoarse (which sounded kinda adorable). Suicune pushed Typhlosion with his paw toward the lake.

"You should drink the water. It's perfectly purified and will speed up the recovery of your sore throat." The legendary said. Typhlosion gave him a defensive growl but a simple smile from me convinced him enough to drink from the lake. Suicune turned to me whilst placing the amulet on the altar with his ribbon feeler... things. It clicked into place with a red glow to its eyes. "Should be glad it's only a sore throat. Whatever he did to you you're lucky he held his strength back." Suicune lamented. My ears fell flat on my skull. I was never going to forget how my outrage hurt the one I loved the most. No matter what I was never going to forgive myself.

"Now Junior, if you please. Touch the amulet with your nose. This will restore your human body." I sighed and meekly walked towards the altar. If I had to be honest, I was scared shitless. Being human again sounded amazing, surreal even but if I was attacked again by those assassins I was gonna be even more defenseless than usual. Knowing that, it frightened me.

"Junior, I know that face. You're hesitant.. aren't you?" Typhlosion inquired. I nodded my head, not even looking at my mate. Suicune kept staring at me with a slight smile. That was apparently his main way of encouraging me. With the little willpower I had I pressed my cold, wet nose against the amulet's. It was cold and hard as I had expected. My ears perked as a small, white shining speck floated around my sight. I backed up as my eyes trailed it. It floated around me, past my eyes, near my ears and between my legs before it decided to stop on my nose. The light wasn't bright to say but wasn't dim either. It grew until the white light began to swallow my body. My fear got the best of me as I tried to fight its grasp but it had already absorbed me. I was trapped in a large white sphere like chamber. Only big enough for me to walk in circles.

I jumped on my hind legs and clawed at the light wall. My claw marks I left on the wall disappeared as the wall repaired itself. I whimpered.

"H-Help! Somebody! Typhlosion? Lucario? .... A-Anybody?" I called out. Distant voices came through my prison. One of which was Typhlosion's. He sounded panicked and angry but what he was saying exactly was drowned out by the wall. I placed my head against the light wall staring down at my paws. I stayed like this for a few seconds before a tingling feeling caught my attention. Looking down, confusion replaced my worry and fear in an instant once an odd spiral enveloped my paws. It traveled up my hind legs than to my waist. I couldn't see through the spiral either so I didn't know what was happening.

Soon it reached my neck. Fearing the worst I rose my head up to delay the inevitable. A whimper escaped my muzzle as the spiral blacked out my vision. When it returned, the light wall shattered. Pieces of it fell on the grass floor before evaporating like water. I blinked my eyes multiple times to adjust to the natural light. Typhlosion stared at me with bewilderment. His maw dropped but somehow made an odd smile. I tilted my head and the absence of fluffy ears finally struck me. I was a human again.

"Junior... you're.. oh my god.." Typhlosion choked out. He walked towards me then examined me up and down before pulling me into a warm hug. It caught me off guard but I hugged back. I didn't even need to look at my love to know he was beaming.

"I never thought I'd see you as a human again.. although you did look adorable as a Shifter. I prefer this. Heh.. your silver hair is just as curly as ever." The badger commented. I pulled away from the hug to nuzzle Typhlosion's nose. His cheeks grew a red hue. Sure the action looked weirder as a human but I didn't care.

Typhlosion gave my cheek a quick kiss as footsteps approached behind me. Large powerful hands flipped me around and pulled me up. I was met at eye level with a beak and glaring yellow eyes. Blaziken stared me down. His eyes traveled up and down my body, studying it. Oddly enough his eyes stopped for a few seconds looking down. Finally, after a minute of straight silence and staring he set me back on my two feet.

"Finally you're back. You look taller. And that outfit looks stupid." Blaziken bluntly stated.

"Ok asshole, I get it. I'll change outfits in the next town. Um.. Lucario? You're kinda just staring at me." The aura user's ears twitched. "What's up?"

"Oh s-sorry.. just can't believe this version of you is right here again. I was just absorbing all this in.."

"You ok? You sound sad about this."

"Well.. I kinda liked your other form. The half wolf one. It was funny seeing you get used to it. Also.. I felt our bond strengthened because of it." Lucario confessed. Suicune chuckled, catching everybody's attention.

"What?" Blaziken spoke out. Suicune looked at me and motioned his head at the amulet. My perplexed look told him I didn't understand.

"You know the power you harbor is still within the amulet. You can use it to change between your three forms freely."

"Wait really? How?" I inquired. The whole shifter and half wolf thing really irked me. I nearly died many times and watched my own parent die in my arms all for me to not even understand what I'm being persuaded for.

"You'll know in due time Junior. Just enjoy the peace and quiet you have for now. Now take the amulet and resume your journey with your friend."

"Wait.. I have questions that need answers. Can you elaborate on them?" I asked him. Suicune tilted his head. "If I must. What is it?" He replied.

"Well.. why am I being attacked by those assassins? What do they want from me? And why did I turn into a wolf hybrid in the first place?" Suicune stared at the water. The crystal clear liquid reflected his emotionless face. He turned back to me, sighing.

"They're a guild known as the Immortals. A group who do whatever is necessary to protect the future of this world. Even if it means killing people along the way. You, sadly, have made their list and it's for a serious charge you've yet to do." Worried glances exchanged between my friends. If I still had my tail it would've hid between my legs. A sense of dread filled the air.

"You shouldn't be worried Junior. As long as you stay with your Pokemon you should be ok... and avoid anyone who appears mysterious and on rooftops. Since they don't exactly blend into crowds they'll hide out in hard to spot locations. They use shadows to their advantage as well due to how dark they dress. As to how you began your transformation.. Robin could shine light on that. Find her and you'll get that info." Suicune said. I stared down at the grassy path and shook my head.

"What is the matter? Hasn't Robin been keeping you safe since you left Johto? Has something happened to her?" Suicune inquired. His tone lowered upon asking. My sight fell to the floor, clenching my fists as hard as I could.

"I... w-wasn't strong enough. I was a coward and easy prey for the assassins. My mother.. d-died saving me. She died in my arms! It.. I saw her determined face slowly fade away into nothing. I-It's my fault she isn't here! She died protecting somebody who would've been better off dead for everyone's sakes! She died, I went berserk and now i'm... here. Living, while she, the one who gave up everything to save her child, had fallen." I exclaimed. My gaze didn't move from the ground until fuzzy arms wrapped around me. I jumped from the suddenness.

"It's ok babe. Everything is going to be fine. You did everything in your power. None of this is your fault. You don't always have to blame yourself whenever something goes wrong.." Typhlosion's grip around me tightened. He buried his muzzle into my neck. Slowly, it built a smile from me. From the corner of my eye, Lucario smiled as well.

"It's.. a shame for what happened to your mother. My condolences Junior. But as cold as it may sound to dismiss this sore subject, would you like the information your mother isn't able to provide?" Suicune asked. I nodded my head, trying to take Typhlosion's words to heart.

"Ok. Where to begin.. ah yes. Why you transformed in the first place. Well you see," He motioned his paw at my team. "They activated it from within you. Throughout your Johto journey you and these four collected many memories. And with those memories.. came power and feelings. Some known and some.. hidden still. Not going to elaborate any further on this subject." A combined groan spread from my team. Blaziken began tapping his foot. An annoyed scowl on his beak. "Sounds like complete Tauros shit. How did we turn a human into a canine hybrid? Isn't that messing with the laws of nature or some crap?" Blaziken commented.

"Normally yes. IF Junior was a full blooded human. But he's not, and he's not a full blooded animal either. A Shifter is half human and half their respective race. In Junior's case, his lineage consists of canines. That expression of yours seems to scream curiosity. What is it Typhlosion?"

"Robin told us before that Junior was the last one of his kind. Is he really the last shifter? What happened to the rest of them?" Typhlosion inquired, leaning against my body. I pushed him slightly which caused him to stumble and fall onto the grassy floor.. I laughed. He growled at me. "Jerk."

"Love you~" I shot back, ruffling his head before helping him on his feet. Zoroark chuckled.

"The rest of the shifters, whether that be the avians, felines, or rest of the canines are dead. They were over hunted many years ago. Around four thousand years. Normally that sounds absurd having you here Junior, but Shifters have long life spans. Longer than humans in fact with higher sex drives. Also the fact shifters can repopulate with both humans and Pokemon made it that much easier for your father to find a mate. Speaking of which, he too, had died long ago. When you were born to be precise. The Immortals hunted him down for so long until he sacrificed himself so you and your mother can run away. Thus running into me, we took care of you together." Suicune walked up to me and smiled.

"You called me 'doggy' for so long. And pulled my twin tails a lot. But you don't remember any of it, which I regret helping decide.. regardless, you should prepare for Shalour city. The next event is nearby it and it's looming closer than before. There, you should find a Pokemon who holds your replaced memories. But you must master your transformation and ability in the forest outside this area. Pokemon moves, abilities and damage are non-existent in this sacred area. Even if it seems like it was previously a battlefield. Junior.. my son, you should get your Pokemon to assist you in this task. Train with them all. Especially Lucario. He holds a key to your survival in the nearest event." He finished. He stared at the sky and roared. A blue and purple beam shot out his opened muzzle. The sky absorbed the color and shattered much like my transformation bubble. There we stood in the middle of the forest like none of it happened. But it had, Typhlosion and the others looking around dumbfounded confirmed we all went through it. I glanced down at the wolf amulet and held it. It smelled like the river. It's rough rocky texture made me smile.

"Suicune..."
