I opened my eyes and suddenly found myself lying outside on the grass. What? Where am I? I quickly scanned my surroundings. I saw a wooden table with a chocolate cake and a red and blue colored pinata hanging just below the roof. No way. This was my-.
"Okay kids! It's time for cake!" a voice came from inside the house. I instantly turned around and saw my mom guiding two small foxes, a cat, a lion, and a panda outside.
"Hey Chris! Stop pushing!" one of the foxes whined.
"It's not me! Mike's doing it!" I couldn't believe it. This was my tenth birthday at my old house. Back then it was just mom and me. My mom hadn't met Rob yet. I smiled as I watched the younger me sit down at the head of the table. An expression of happiness that I was turning ten. I even remembered who sat next to who. Chris sat on my left, then it was Christina, then Patrick, and Mike. Six seats in all. Wait a minute. Six?
_ I scanned the faces. I was absolutely certain no one else had been invited. Sure counting mom makes six, but I don't remember her sitting down. That's when I noticed another girl sitting next to ten year-old Yuri. Another fox with green eyes, jet black hair wearing a red headband and a white dress. _That's odd. I don't remember her. Wait... white dress? My blood ran cold as I realized who I was looking at. Suddenly, she turned around to look at me with her eyes. The eyes that I was so afraid of for sixteen years.
_ No. No. No! Not her!_ I backed away slowly, fear clawing at me from every side. All I wanted was to get away from here, away from HER. All of a sudden, I felt something wet and warm dripping down my leg. It trailed slowly down my pants and onto the grass, staining it red. I realized what it was. Blood.
"No! Pleas- AAAAAGH!!!!!!!" I screamed and clutched my stomach. I felt as though someone had lit me on fire from the inside, burning all of my organs. The blood was dripping faster now, now starting to create a small puddle, slowly growing bigger.
"STOP IT!!!" I screamed at her. Desperately wanting the pain to stop. All she did was look at me. Her face void of all expression.
"Please..." My voice slowly growing weak as I passed out. Darkness soon overwhelmed me.
"Hey Yuri. We're here." a voice said next to me. I felt paw shaking me slightly.
"Huh?" I replied dumbly. I looked around. I was no longer outside on the grass, but in a car.
"Yuri. You're gonna be late." I turned and saw Rob looking at me concerned. That's when I remembered. Today was the first day of school, Mom was at work so Rob drove me to school. On the way I recalled the terrible nightmare I had last night and must have dozed off.
"Oh, right. Bye." I picked up my backpack and got out.
"Have fun" Rob waved goodbye, I gave a small wave back. I watched him as he drove off to his work. Once he was gone, I looked around for my friends and saw them hanging out under a tree. Mike noticed me looking at them.
"Hey Yuri! Over here!" beckoning to me. I trudged over to them. "Hey guys." I mumbled.
"Man, I can't believe its school already! That was the shortest summer vacation of my life." Patrick said as he stretched.
"Maybe it won't be so bad. Maybe we'll all have the same classes this year!" Christina smiled.
"I hope so. Last year, we NEVER got the same classes. I didn't know anyone." Mike grumbled. "Now that Yuri's here, let's check out our schedules." Some of us were dissapointed with what we got and some of us were happy. MIke and Patrick got three classes together, Christina had two with me, and I had all of my classes with Chris. He seemed pretty happy about that. Just then the bell rang, and we each went on our separate ways.
"YES! Finally! We have the same classes Yuri! Isn't that great?!" Chris shouted happily.
"Yeah. I can't believe it." I said, not paying much attention.
"What's wrong? Something happen with Rob?" Chris asked as he searched my face.
"No. Nothing like that. I just... couldn't sleep last night."
"Chris looked at me. "Yuri... did you dream about her again?"
I nodded slowly. Chris was the only one who knew about my nightmares about the girl. The first time I had these dreams, nothing bad happened. She would just stand there and do nothing. Then, once I turned about 9. The dreams started to become ugly. And as I got older, they started to become more frequent and even more terrifying than the last.
"Was it bad?" I nodded "Do you want to talk about it?" Chris asked me. I shook my head. He sighed.
"Maybe that girl is some kind of spirit from your past and she's trying to tell you something."
"Chris, it can't be. I've never seen her before in my life."
"Maybe she's your twin. Maybe your parents had to give her up and the parents who adopted her didn't take care of her very well and she got sick and..."
"So you're saying that she's trying to kill me as revenge or something?" I said to him jokingly, but I couldn't help feeling a little bit scared.
"I'm just saying that its a possibility." We reached the classroom. "Get ready to get bored." he muttered as he opened the door. We went inside and took our seats. Our teacher was a slim rabbit that went by the name of Mrs. Guin. She seemed like a nice teacher, not the kind that just snaps at you all day. _Well, at least things can't get any worse. _Just then the door opened.
"Hello." Mrs.Guin greeted politely "Are you two in this class?"
"Yes." a voice answered. My head went up, my ears perked. Haven't I heard that voice before? Two figures walked in. A tiger with red stripes, red shirt, and red backpack. But I was hardly paying attention to him. I was too busy looking at the figure NEXT to him. No way. He goes to this school?! Standing there, was the wolf I had met at the library. I looked at Chris.
He grinned at me "Looks like the first day of school just got interesting."
Okay there you go. the third chapter.
