Okay so here is the completed version of Ch.2. Hope you like it.
It took me a moment to realize that my nose was STILL on his CHEST. Blushing, I immediately pulled away.
"Uh...Um...S-sorry!" I stammered. Oh God! Stop blushing DAMNIT!!!!
"No it's my fault, I wasn't paying attention to where I was going." the wolf said, giving me a nice smile. "By the way, I couldn't help noticing that you were staring at these books. Do you need help finding one?"
"Uh. No...I was just waiting for a friend." Which was sort of true. Chris still hadn't come back. _Wait. He saw me staring at the books? For 15 minutes!!!! _
"Okay. If you do need help. I'll be over there." He pointed at a couple of chairs. And with that he sauntered off, waving goodbye as he did so. Wow he's really tall. Not to mention he has really big biceps. He must work out a lo-
"Well, well, well. What's this? My best friend FLIRTING with a GUY? Ah, will wonders never cease." a smug voice said behind me. I swear I almost jumped out of my fur. "Chris!"
He laughed. "Hey Yuri. Who was that?" jerking his thumb in the direction of the wolf.
"No one. He was just... helping me find a book."
Chris scoffed. "Yeah. I'll believe that when I'm dead. Anyways, we have to get going. Christina's mom is getting worried, so we have to leave."
"Okay." I muttered as I picked five books from the shelf. "Let's go."
Meanwhile...
_ Damn, what's wrong with me? I probably scared the hell out of that fox, bumping into him like that. _ the wolf thought bitterly as he went back to his seat.
"So... what happened?" a tiger from the next seat over asked.
"I talked to him and scared the hell out of him."
"Well, I can't blame him. I mean... you ARE intimidating."
"Gee, thanks." _Still, that fox was kinda cute. Wonder if I'll ever see him again? I hope I do... _
Outside...
"Hey guys. What took you so long?" asked a panda in a red car.
"Yeah. We were about to leave you. You're lucky we didn't." a cat spoke out next to the panda.
"C'mon Christina! We would never do that!"
"Don't lie to me, Patrick. I heard you and Mike talking about it!" Christina objected.
"Maybe, Chris found a hot guy and that's why they were taking so long." a lion from the backseat spoke.
"Well you're right about a hot guy, Mike. But it wasn't me who found him. It was little Yuri here." Chris pointed to me. "And he'll tell us all about it in the car." I ignored him and imagined myself pushing Chris off a cliff. I smiled. What a pleasant thought.
Unfortunately, Chris wasn't kidding when he said I would tell them all about my encounter with the "hot guy" as Chris put it. "So what are you going to do when you see him again?" Mike asked me.
"If you do, we'd better change that look of yours, so you can impress him. And I know just how to start. What do you say to putting a few-"
"No!" I immediately protested. "There is no way I'm letting you putting purple streaks on ANY PART of my fur!" Purple was Chris's favorite color. He had purple streaks on his hair, tail, and paws.
"What? If it looks good on me, then it looks good on you." Chris pointed out. "Look at us! We're practically twins! Except that you have green eyes and mine are blue."
"He does have a point Yuri. you two look so much alike it scares me." Patrick smiled playfully at me from the rearview mirror. "Well, I hope I scare you to death." I said as I smiled back.
"Sorry to interrupt your chat. But Yuri's house is over there." Christina pointed out the window. Chris groaned. He still wanted to talk to me about changing my look. But there was nothing he could do about it. He muttered bye but I couldn't hear him over the more CHEERFULL goodbyes from my other friends. I waved as they slowly drove out of sight. After I couldn't see them anymore. I picked up my books, walked up the front porch, and rang the doorbell. When the door opened, dissapointment washed over me. Standing there was my stepdad, Rob.
Rob was a big lion with a big voice. My mom met him when I was 14. My mom divorced my real dad right after I was born. That was the story my grandparents told me, whenever I would try t get more information from them, they would instantly clam up. Mom wasn't much help either, she would just pretend she didn't hear me or change the subject. Rob and I hardly talk. He was a nice guy, always taking me out to places, making food for me, doing normal parent stuff. The reason we hardly talked was because I found it really hard to say anything to him. Whenever he asked me a question, my reply would mostly be just a one word answer. And to make it worse, because of my short replies, Rob always got the impression that I hated him for trying to take my real father's place. Which was DEFINITELY not true.
"Oh. Hey Yuri. How was the library? Rob asked, hoping that I would finally accept him as my dad.
"Great" I replied bluntly. Guess he'll have to wait another day.
"Oh. Just... great, huh?" Rob's face was trying hard to hide his dissapointment. I nodded. But, Rob wasn't the kind to give up that easily. "Hey, you hungry? Your mother's not back from work yet so I thought I'd make dinner. We're having spaghetti. Want some?" I shook my head. "Not hungry." Then I moved past him and went to my room. _Besides, it'll just be a silent dinner anyway. _I got inside my room and closed the door. The door was almost closed, but then I heard Rob's voice downstairs.
"Great, just great. I blew it again. I told myself that today would be the day but...." I closed the door. I'm sorry Rob. I will accept you, in time. I stood there for a few moments before climbing into my bed. Just be patient. My final thought before I went to sleep.
