Sidney and Val's Story: Prologue
This story takes place a while after the events of Runaway Ratón. I wrote it in order to give more depth to Sidney and to set up the following story which betters her relationship with Val. (Word Count: 2897)
Sidney awoke in a cold sweat. How long had it been since she had that dream? As she sat up in the bed she felt her stomach tighten up, and she thought for a moment that she was going to be sick. The feeling passed as quickly as it came, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong. As she sat with her feet dangling she felt a hand rub her lower back as a deep, tired sounding voice said, “You okay, Sid? You’re normally not this quiet in the morning.”
The fennec fox woman slowly turned to face the large saint bernard man who was in the bed with her. She took his large hand in both of her small ones and kissed it tenderly before replying, “I’m fine. I just had a bad dream. It’s nothing to worry yourself about.” She smiled tenderly at the half naked form beside her as she tried to assure him that it was nothing.
Fido gave her a suspicious look, but he made it a point to never pry into matters that the others didn’t want talk about. He grabbed her arm and pulled her in for a kiss before saying, “You know I’m always here if you ever need to talk.”
Sidney smiled and kissed his wet nose before saying, “Silly puppy, of course I know that. It was nothing. I’m perfectly fine, but the mice probably won’t be okay if we don’t hurry up and get breakfast started. You know how cranky Vic gets when she doesn’t get her coffee. OH! Maybe I should tape a little kissy face to her mug this morning and see if that will cheer up the sourpuss!”
The big dog man groaned and covered his face before exasperatingly saying, “I don’t know why you purposefully agitate her.” He then pointed an accusing finger at Sidney. “You always do things that you know will set her off, and I end up having to do damage control so she doesn’t ‘boil yer ears’ or whatever other threats she makes. Can you please just do me a very simple favor and NOT screw with Vic today? Please?”
Sidney put her finger to her chin to dramatically show that she was thinking about it. It wasn’t until Fido said her name in raised voice that she said, “Fine, fine! But you are gonna owe me! Tonight I want you to do that thing with your fingers that makes me squirt really hard, and then I want you to cum inside of me at least three times. Also! I don’t want to have to do all the work this time so I get to stay on bottom the whole time, got it?”
Fido looked over the flat chested nymphomaniac before him, taking in the curve of her hips and the perkiness of her nipples he imagined all of the effort that tonight would require. He finally sighed before agreeing to her demands. “But!” he told her “If you pick on her in even the slightest way then you’ll have to start sleeping in your room again, deal?”
Sidney went to her hands and knees facing Fido before barking, “What!? C'mon, that’s not fair! You know you enjoy having my fluffy tail in your bed~” She waved the tip of her snowy white tail in his face, but he still didn’t change his mind. After pouting for a few minutes and a few adult touches Sidney finally sighed to herself and agreed to Fido’s counter terms. After that Fido finally got up and started getting dressed. When he looked back at the bed Sidney was curled up in the spot which he just got up from. Looking at her hugging her tail, Fido chuckled and asked, “What are you doing?” Sidney looked up at him, and in her cutest voice said, “Your spot is always so warm after you get up.” She had the most peaceful smile Fido had ever seen on her, but he knew she needed to get up so they could start breakfast so he walked over and grabbed one of her long, white ears before calling her silly and pulling on it until she finally got up and started to get dressed.
After a few minutes the two were both in the kitchen making breakfast. Fido was cooking eggs and bacon, and Sidney was cooking a pot of grits and toasting bread after having started a pot of coffee. There was a sound from upstairs that sounded like a yeti howling. Sidney nudged Fido and said, “It looks like the little monster has left her lair.” Fido calmly looked at her and said, “You must really want to start sleeping in your room again.” Taking his meaning, Sidney’s face flushed before she went back to stirring the pot in front of her.
Upon entering the kitchen Vic’s trademark bed head was as fabulously disheveled as ever, and the bags under her eyes made her look ten years older than she was. She yawned loudly again before making a bee-line for the coffee pot. As she passed by Fido and Sidney she simply said, “Mornin’.” She was wearing only a baggy tee shirt that came half way down her calves and a pair of crew-cut socks. By contrast her brother’s hair was well brushed and held back with a headband. He was wearing a pair of pink pajamas that he had gotten last Christmas; they had become his usual sleep attire. As he came into the kitchen he smiled brightly and said, “Good morning, Fido! Good morning, Sidney! Breakfast smells really good this morning!” He walked over to the refrigerator and pulled out a carton of orange juice. As he sat down at the table with it and poured himself a glass his sister shot him a dirty look. He nervously closed the carton as Vic took a long sip of her coffee which was still scalding hot. When she set her cup down after never taking her eyes off of her brother she quietly said, “I don’t see how you could have that much energy this early in the morning. Her eyes and voice were full of venom, but before Val had a chance to answer a plate of food was set down before each of them.
“Don’t start this early in the morning.” Fido warned Vic as he set a plate of bacon, eggs, grits, and toast in front of her. “Just eat and then if you feel like fighting we can go a few rounds outside.” Vic grinned at that. After over a year of trying to figure out how to help Vic work out her anger issues Fido finally decided one day to try an idea that he, himself, thought was crazy. He got Frank to bring him a couple pair of boxing gloves, mouth guards, and training helmets. After boxing with Vic the first time he could tell that he had finally found the perfect outlet for her. Despite their size difference Fido found Vic to be surprisingly sturdy. In their first match Vic had actually taken some punches that Fido was sure would have knocked a lesser person to their knees, and recently Vic had started to get much better, even landing a head blow the last time they fought that almost knocked Fido out, that was what she was grinning about when she said, “Be careful, mutt. You wouldn’t want me to kick your ass like last time.”
Fido sat down with his own food and said, “I don’t know if I’d exactly call that cheap shot you kicking my ass. Who knows, maybe you’ll get lucky and I’ll get distracted by a squirrel again.” Fido shrugged his shoulders before taking a bite of his toast that he had covered with grits. Vic took a bite of her food and , with a full mouth, said, “Yeah right. Nobody likes a sore loser, ya know.” Val was just about to say something to his sister about not needing talk while eating, but just then a knock came at the door. It was such a rare occurrence that everyone stopped what they were doing and stared in the direction of the noise. A second knock came and Fido got up from the table, telling everyone to stay where they were. After he walked down the hallway the three at the table heard him open the door and start talking to someone. A few seconds later he came back into the doorway and said, “Hey, guys, look who came for breakfast.”
The man that stepped out from behind the wall wore his usual black slacks and dress vest. His button up shirt today was red with stripes. He tipped his hat off of his slicked back, jet black hair, and his thin lips made a thin smile as his green eyes shone brightly. His skin was pale like and he said, “Good morning, all.” as he gestured to the table with his hat.
“Frank!” exclaimed Vic. She shot up from her chair and went to hug the well-dressed gentleman. When Vic ran away from the cabin a couple of years ago it was Frank who found her and convinced her to return. After that he had become the only person who Vic was willing to show any warmth to. As Vic hugged the front of Frank’s pants he reached down and ruffled her disheveled hair saying, “Good morning, Vic. That’s quite a rat’s nest you have going on there. Val didn’t decide to spend the night in your hair did he?” Frank chuckled at his own joke, but saw Val blush at the table. Vic scoffed and said, “Yeah, right. As if that weenie had the balls to do something like that.”
“Vic!” her brother exclaimed, his face going red beneath his fur, “Why do you always have to be so mean to me?” He sat back in his chair and pouted as Vic went to sit back down at the table. She ruffled his hair as she passed by his chair and said, “Lighten up. It was just a joke.” she then kissed his cheek before sitting back in her seat.
Fido shook his head wishing for just one day of peace, and then turned to Frank and asked, “So, what brings you here this early? You also came unannounced. Did something happen?” Frank chuckled and replied, “No, no. Nothing has really happened. I actually came by to see Sidney this morning. Sidney’s long white ears perked up at the sound of her name. She had been watching the commotion unfold, but since she promised to be on her best behavior she decided not to take part in it. Now, however, she was being called out to. She fixed Frank with her most seductive glance. “Why Frank~ Have you finally decided to take me up on my offer? I’m sure we could make the most beautiful sounds up in my room~ I’ll even lock the door so Fido can’t peep on us.” Fido rolled his eyes and Vic muttered the word “Slut.” under her breath while Val focused his eyes on on his plate, his ears were red from blushing. Sidney ignored them all.
Frank walked over to her and cupped her muzzle in his hand when he scratched her fur covered jaw she began to moan and lean into his hand. He then bent down and whispered in her ear. “I actually came by to talk to you about that thing you mentioned when we first met. Sidney immediately stopped moaning and her face went serious. She pushed his hand away and looked at everyone in the room. “Come with me.” She said as she got up from her chair and took the taller man’s hand. As she walked by Fido he asked what was wrong. Sidney simply told him that it was private and continued walking with Frank until the two were safely alone in the laundry room. She turned to lock the door behind them, and when she turned back around she saw that Frank had pulled something out of his pocket.
“It took a lot longer than I wanted,” Frank explained as he presented the item to Sidney, “but I was finally able to recover this for you.” Sidney’s snowy white face seemed to lose what little color it had as she cupped her paws around the item. It was hanging from a thin silver chain, and was in the shape of a heart. The sterling outside of it was tarnished from years of neglect, but Sidney recognized it instantly. Her hands were shaking as she slowly opened the locket. Once she had it open she fell to her knees and put her hand over her mouth as tears welled in her eyes. On one side of the inside of the locket was a small photograph of a black haired who was smiling so widely that it seemed like his face was about to split. He was clean shaven and his hair reached much further down than Fido’s. Sidney remembered how she used to always love to brush his hair after he got out of the shower. She was so focused on that picture that her heart sank when she finally looked at the other side of the locket. There, as small as could be, was the picture of a woman holding a newborn baby in her arms. The woman’s face was cropped out of the photo, but that didn’t matter to Sidney.
“One of our guys happened to run across this while doing inventory in the facility.” Frank explained. He thought it might be important so he told me about it, and that’s when I remembered That you asked me to be on the look out for a small silver locket that had been taken from you.” Frank knelt beside Sidney and put a reassuring hand on her shoulder. “There was also data attached to this necklace.” Sidney’s eyes widened. “They had the name of the man in the photo, and…” Before he could say anything else Sidney grabbed his vest and said, “They don’t know where she is do they? Frank, please tell me that they don’t know where she is!” Tears were streaming down her cheeks as Sidney’s voice broke off and she covered her mouth again to try to keep herself from panicking. Frank sat up and said, “Don’t worry. I told my guy to make sure and wipe everything related to your daughter from the facility’s files. She as safe as if they never knew about her. But my guy did send me some information… in case you wanted me to check on her for you.”
Keeping the locket clutched in one hand, Sidney looked at Frank through tear filled eyes and said, “No.” She then looked at the picture of the newborn again and said, “It’s been almost three years since I volunteered for the facility’s program. They promised me enough money that I could finally get my baby back from the orphanage, but,” She held out her fur-covered arms and looked at her clawed fingers, “look at me. I’m sure she must be walking and talking by now, but there is no way I could ever give her a normal life while I look like this.”
“Sidney…” Frank tried to be sympathetic. “You know there is no way to change you back, right?” She stared daggers into the man’s chest and spat out, “Of course I know that! What do you think I was trying to say!?” Frank reeled back and then said, “What I meant was, even though you are like this now, that doesn’t mean that you have to give up on her.” Sidney raised her paw and said, “Enough.” Her face was pained as she continued, “I can never give her a good life like this. I don’t want any updates on her, but, please, just make sure that the facility never finds her. That’s all I ask.” She looked at the locket again and started to sob as the weight of her decision fell on her. Frank stood up and walked to the door, but just as he was about to unlock it he stopped and said, “If you don’t mind my asking, who is the person in the other photo? There wasn’t any information about him. Sidney stared at the locket and simply said, “Good.” When it was clear that she wouldn’t say more Frank unlocked the door and walked out.
Sidney heard frank speaking with everyone else in the kitchen, but it wasn’t until after she heard the front door close that she decided to get up. Slowly, as if in a trance, she walked out of the laundry room and went to the staircase that lead to the second floor where the bedrooms were. Fido called out to her asking if she was okay. Sidney stopped and looked at him before saying. “I think I’m going to sleep in my room after all.” Then she climbed the stairs. She thought that she heard Fido say something else, but it didn’t matter. Nothing mattered. Once she made it to the top of the stairs she turned right, walked past the spare room, and finally entered her room before locking the door behind her.
