Dusk Ch. 1 Reunion

Mediteral

With his winged back on the grass, Jack, the hazel dragon held the crying gryphon, Leena, in his arms. It wasn't a sad cry, but a cry of happiness at their reunion. Her beak nuzzled into his chest and he rubbed her head, assuring her that everything would be alright and this wasn't a dream.

After a light sob, "I thought you were dead." She muttered. "After all this time...and you're still alive!?" She slammed her fist into his chest.

"Ow! Why did you do that?" He said rubbing himself

"Dammit! Don't you know how sad I was and here you come out of nowhere? What have you been doing all these years!? And why do you look different!?!?" Her demands shook the moment.

Talk about awkward questions... He could only reply with "Well...Ah...um...well, you know...uh...I wasn't like this always...I mean...Well...I kinda just woke up."

She sat up and wiped her eyes, "What do you mean?"

With an embarrassed grin, he looked away and said "Well...I can't really explain it but...I just sorta woke up under a tree with some clothes and stuff in a bag..."

She laughed and poked the tip of his snout, "Sounds like you're quite the party animal," She teased "But that doesn't explain much."

He sighed and held her hand with both of his, he asked "I...honestly can't answer all that because I don't know myself...Can't we just leave them as plot holes for now please?"

She grinned with eyes closed, "Well, it's okay for now..." She leaned down and touch the tip of her beak to the end of his snout, looking into his hazel eyes and him looking into her deep red eyes. "But don't think you can avoid them forever..."

Jack's cheeks warmed deeply as a blush set in, his heart stared beating madly. They just stared at each other for a while before he looked away, "W-Well...How have you been?"

Leena stood above him and offered her hand, "Well come on, I'll show you!"

He took her paw and stood on his feet, she smiled and tugged at him to follow her. He did so and they passed through the trees progressively to her wherever she was going. They arrived to a small clearing and she stopped. Turning back to him, she said "...Hey wait here, I'm gonna see if my aunt is home, you remember her right? She's been watching over me all these years...but she's a little protective...."

"I think I get the hint...I'll wait here." Jack spoke with a grin. Leena smiled and stepped through the trees... the dragon said nothing as he watched her walk away...Eyeing her red hoodie and jeans...and the poof of her tail....and a bit higher up....

"She's got a nice butt, doesn't she, time was good on her." Groped a voice in his mind.

"heh ye-Wait what! NO! Who said that!?" Jack looked around, near panic like she might have heard or something. Despite looking around, he saw nothing until he turned back around. Floating in front of him was a little miniature hazel scaled feral dragon, complete with brown hair...

"It was me, your familiar" Said the tiny dragon, in an oddly familiar telepathic voice. Jack squinted dumbfoundedly at the little scaly, "Um....my what? Who are you?". "Oh come on! Don't tell me your forgot, Im the one who saved you're life...Idiot!" It stated as it perched on his shoulder.

Jack was silent, a small feeling of dread came over him. "...Jeager!?"

"The one and only." He stated proudly. "Okay now I--Hey what the hell are you doing!!" Before Jeager knew it, Jack had the little dragon clutched in his paws, choking him, "You little rat! I should kill you!!".

"Kill me!? I saved your life, you ungrateful lizard bastard!!" He slipped around enough to bite down on Jack's fingers, freeing him as the large one yelped. The little coughed a bit and growled, "Now listen, I'm gonna watch over you, got it memorized?"

Jack said nothing, just watching the floating familiar.

"You know that bag of clothes and stuff you had, that was me who put it there." Jack rubbed his chin "...Okay, but why are you so tiny all of a sudden, why be my...familiar or whatever you call it?"

"So I can keep tabs on you. Why I am keeping tabs on you is my own business!" The tiny dragon grinned triumphantly, "You should be happy! You've got yourself a guardian dragon with you!"

"...I'm brimming with excitement...." Jack spoke with the dullest of dull sarcastic tones.

"Anyway, the reason I'm here is, other than announcing my presence, I'm advising that you keep your identity as the dragon a secret from Talya, you know, her aunt." He smirked and nudged Jack lightly "I can take a pretty good guess she wouldn't like that dragon courting her niece." He teased.

Jack just blushed quietly, "Hey don't pretend like I'm wrong, I saw you two together." Jeager ragged on. The big one protested with "What about my secrets, don't I get to have any?"

"Shhhh... she's coming back" And with that, Jeager zipped behind him and disappeared from sight. Looking around, "Hey where'd you go?" Jack inquired.

"Who you talking to Jack?" Leena approached and asked the witless dragon.

"Um....." Jack scrambled for a thought, "...I was...talking to myself...cause...cause Im crazy!....I mean...crazy, for you, I mean crazy for you!"

Laughter erupted from Leena. "Oh my...." She calm down after awhile and she was still blushing. "Oh come on, Jack, quite acting so cute, heheh." She grasped his paw and tugged him along.

"Smooooth, Jackie Boy!" Jeager taunted from Jack's shadow. "....shut up..." Jack muttered as quietly as possible.

Leena's house was simple forest house. It was wrapped around the base of a large tree, the walls themselves matched the surroundings of the forest; however the roof really contrasted the area with bright colors...That makes it easy for flyers to see it from high up, Jack assumed.

"This is my home, Jack." Leena gave the tour of her home. "I've been living with my Aunt since...then." Jack examined the inside of the house, light colored walls with various pictures....A typical forest home, Jack figured.

When the tour ended, their final stop was her room. Inside her rooms were many drawing over the walls. A stereo rested on a desk and a bed planted in a corner... "...And this is my room." Leena said with a blush.

Jack couldn't seem to find the words to say, he found it more comfortable to stay silent. He was desperate to find any sort of comfort because he was wracked with nervousness, unknown to him however, Leena was feeling quite the same. Her heart pounded underneath her feathered chest and her fuzzy tail twitched nervously.

"What do you think...?" She asked quietly. Took by an expected surprise, Jack muttured "Um...well...I love your drawings...You're so great..." "Aww...thank you..." Leena grinned and blushed even deeper... An awkward silence passed by... "...I really missed you...I was in really deep doubt...but I know for sure it's you..."

"How did you know?" Jack tilted his head. Leena looked away with a smile... "I never told anyone about...my favorite flower..." Jack felt at a bit of ease and he joked, "At the risk of sounding like a cheesy romance...I'd gather millions of those flowers for you." Leena giggled and kept smiling. The moment was definitely eased on both of their minds... They even felt comfortable together...

"I....I don't have a place to stay..." Jack muttered. Leena stepped a bit closer to him, "You can stay here, Talya won't mind!" the dragon was shocked "Are you sure?" The gryphon nodded. At this point, the stereo turned on; a feature the Leena has it programmed to. A soft guitar played.

Jack giggled lightly, "What the...? How convenient...It's like we're in a love story or something." As if in reaction, Leena hugged Jack. There were no words spoken, just the music. The dragon and gryphon couple hugged each other. "...Leena?" She looked up to him, looking into his eyes once again. They both blushed deeply and the tips of their noses touched.

"What the hell are you waiting for, kiss her already!!" Jeager sneered in Jack's mind....Talk about a mood killer, but Jack ignored the comment. However, he ended up doing what Jeager encouraged. Slowly, Jack and Leena shared their first kiss.

It seemed to last a minute, their first kiss did, a very happy minute. They finally pulled apart. Jack asked her, "Was..that your first kiss too?" Leena nodded with the deepest possible blush. They were prepared to kiss again...but there was a loud noise outside. Leena gasped and jumped away, "shit....it's talya!" she whispered madly.

Panic immediately came over Jack and he hissed "what!? what do we do!". Leena hissed back "get out! go round front! make up a story!!" She pointed to the window. Jack rushed to it and opened it. In what was a most likely a stupid move, Jack literally dived out the window, landing painfully on some hardened dirt. he then rushed to a nearby bush.

Leena stepped out of her room and walked into the living room. A tall blue scaled dragoness with blonde hair and military attire stood in the living room, stretching her limbs, thankful to be home. "Hi Aunt Talya!" Leena said cheerfully.

With a soft smile, talya said, "Good Evening sweetie." It was a deep and commanding kind of voice but a very welcoming tone. "How was your day?". "It was very good. You know that letter you gave me? I met the sender." Leena announced cheerfully.

Talya stepped by slowly, taking off her jacket, "Is that so? Was he your prince charming?" She teased. "You're lucky I'm not your father or I'd have locked you in the house, heheh, you think I'm overprotective; your father was very good at being so."

"heh, I know." Leena looked away slightly, well, "It's about, the sender..."

*Knock, Knock* Went the door. Talya promptly approached the door and opened, "Hello?" She chirped playfully.

At the door stood a hazel scaled dragon wearing a dark shirt and blue jeans...he also had a scuff of dirt on his cheek. "Um...Is Leena home?" He asked nervously. Talya smirked and leaned on the door, "Maybe....Why do you care?" Jack was speechless. Thankfully, Leena, came to the rescue, "Talya, quit picking on him, that's the sender!"

Jack nodded and Talya did the same, "Is that so? Hey you got dirt on your face, you know..." Jack coughed lightly and said, "That's part of my problem....why I'm here..."

Talya looked back to Leena, who then stepped forward and explained "He's having trouble...and he needs somewhere to stay." Talya looked back to Jack, who explained "I'm Jack...Leena's friend....and may I please stay here....for tonight at least...I-I can't go home..." Talya nods lightly, "Aww....you don't need to talk about it. If you need someplace to stay tonight, we got the couch open."

Jack smiled softly up to her, "Thanks."

Talya stepped aside, letting him in, "Leena's a good girl, if she trusts you, I'm sure it's for a reason."

Jack stepped by nervously and he proceeded to the couch. He sat quitely, feeling as if he made a single wrong step, he would be thrown out to the wind.

"hmhmhm, Relax honey, just kick back, I'll make some food in a bit." Talya stepped by and proceeded to the kitchen.

Leena looked to Jack, "We better play it safe..." she whispered and Jack nodded in agreement.

"Leena! Could you help me out?" Talya called from the kitchen. Leena left to help her aunt.

Jack leaned back and breathed a sigh of relief. He thought of his situation. He felt really awkward about it all... Soon, a little floating dragon appeared in front of him, "Wow, I can't believe that worked, that Talya sure let you go easily."

Jack groaned softly, "...What happens now? I get the feeling that I won't be able to stay here for long..."

"I don't know, It's your life now. Maybe if you explained things to Talya, she may understand."

"You know I haven't forgiven you yet, right?"

"Granted."

"...hey why can't I remember my past? Didn't I have a family at all? Do you think I can get them back?"

"...I don't know. I just changed at random, you were just at the wrong place at wrong time. You may need to discover it yourself; who knows, Talya's in the military, she may be able to tell you..."

Jack nodded... "I guess...we'll just see what happens from here..."

"Hey Jack, food's ready!" Came a call from the kitchen. the lost dragon looked up...and then back to his familiar; who had already disappeared into his shadow.

He just sat, deep in thought, wondering what was going to happen next. "Jack, you coming?" Talya called out. This snapped the dragon back to reality, who then proceed the kitchen, his stomach grumbling.....
