Dawn Pt. 1

Thursday Prompt Respone

Mediteral

A nice breeze passed by, rustling the leaves of a tree above me; they sounded like

an audience applauding the thrill of nature. Green blades of grass tickled my nose as

they swayed in the gust. The warm sunset shone down on my hair-covered face,

warming my entire body. I lay spawled out along the grass, my legs dangling lazily

above me and my tail twitched along with my heartbeat. What a perfect scene!

Unfortunately, it all seemed a little off. First, I shouldn't have been able to hear any

wind since I fell alseep listening to music from my headphones....they probably fell

off. That's not all though; I could feel the grass tickling my entire backside....but I

have loose clothes....Which brings me to the fact that I felt rather...breezy at the

moment. As much as I would have liked to stay in this happy state....I had to wake

up eventually.

My eyelids slowly opened under the shade of my hair. I twisted my body to match

the angle of my head and I rested on my side. I immediately noticed something

different...It's hard to explain...but I felt that my body was different. I glanced down

and I saw my four legs relaxing beside my body. That wasn't right....I was supposed

to have only two legs and two arms....is this a dream?

A moment passed by before I realized that I really was different and this was reality.

I gasped and tried to stand, stumbling my muzzle into the grass repeatedly. When I

finally managed to get to my paws, I looked like a child standing for the first

time....a four legged child anyway....I looked over my body. Covered in hazel-ish

scales, four legged, two wings, and a long tail; yep, I was indeed a feral dragon.

I wanted to express my shock through speech, but instead of what i had intended,

an odd "Murf!" sound popped out my draconic lips. It seemed I would be unable to

talk...."Awesome..." Thought I, sarcastically, amongst my rising panic. I wanted

to know why I was like this...and I couldn't recall what I was doing....I couldn't even

think of my name. All I knew was that I wasn't supposed to be like this.

I tried calling out "Hello!" but instead a nice "Moan!" erupted. "_what's going

on!?_ " I began stumbling away, learning to walk all over again.

I hadn't gone far until I stumbled on the edge of the forest that encircled the tree I

woke up under when I was stopped by a harsh sound.

"Freeze!"

I looked behind myself to see a brown feathered gryphon wearing a dark-green

outfit pointing a type of rifle at me; he was clearly some kind of soldier.

I had already forgotten I couldn't talk but was reminded when I tried to say "_Do

you know what's going on?_ " and a "Whhirryoorrwaarr!" came out instead.

"Shut up! Don't do anything or I will kill you!" The soldier shouted. He pulled out a

radio and said "I found him."

"Roger that, you have permission to do whatever it takes to ensure the subject does

not escape!" Answered the radio.

"Copy...." He put away the chatterbax and he aimed his sights at me "Now hold still

while I pop your knees!"

"What!?" "Arp!" I went in shock. Was this guy really going to kill me? " _Hey

you got the wrong-_ " My growls and grunts were cut off as his rifle fired a bullet in

my right leg, in the thigh. I cried out through high pitch whines and pathetic roaring.

He was ready to shoot me again....but in a blind panic, my body seeemed to moved

itself and my front paw and claws had bashed into the soldier, knocking him to the

ground before I retreated back. I felt the sharp pain of the bullet, but it seemed to

fade down quickly. I hadn't moved five steps before I stopped to look back.

The soldier writhed on the ground for a bit....then he stopped moving completely.

I just kept looking. "I-Is he okay?" I worried then took a step to him....then

another until I aproached him. I examined his body; he was quite mangled...I

wondered how hard I really hit him in my panic....he seemed to be out cold...

"Marf?" I muttured to him. I leaned my face closer, trying to see a sign of life...he

was like a rock. "....just wake up aleady, move or something..."

Still he remained still. I heard his radio cackle to life and some gibberish poured out;

he didn't answer it or even acknowledge it.

"...Moor?" I nudged him with my paw to recieve no reaction. I focused on his

chest...it wasn't moving at all. "_...I'm sorry, okay? You don't need to mess with me

like this..._ " I whined to him.

I stared into his face, some blood leaked out his beak and his eyes stared out

to...nothing. I didn't hear any grunts or anything. There was a little piece of paper

beside him that flew away in a passing breeze.

I felt a hole form in my chest and my eyes started to water, I felt panicky, "_H-hey,

get up, say something, I'm sorry! Just....do something..._ " I softly begged him. I

nudged him harder with my snout, pushing him onto his back; he now stared blankly

at the sky.

I gasped softly, "_N-No....I-I'm sorry! It was an accident, I didn't even hit you that

hard did I?..._ " I stepped back unable to look away from the soldier, "_You're

not dead!? you can't be...._ "

Still no reaction....

"H-he's not dead...he'll just wake up if I go away." That's all I told myself as I

ran away into the trees as fast as I could. He'll wake up if I go away. He'll wake up

if I go away. He'll wake up if I go away. He'll wake up if I go away...
