When we got to the hospital, I rushed hoping that the sooner it starts, the sooner. Nick though as usual took his time. When we got to Doctor Lango's office, she said, "good you guys are early. So we are going to have some more preops tests, and go through how long this should take. Finally by Zootopia law, I need to remind you that this is the last time to change your mind, during these final tests, we will be preparing you for the transplant." As she started to get a needle ready, she poked Nick with it.
As she started the tests, Nisk actually started to ask questions. Nick asked, "so a couple of questions, how long will this surgery take, also how big will the scar be, and will I have any health problems in the future?" After Doctor Lango was done checking out her computer, she sat down across from us.
She said, "to answer your first question to remove your kidney and the tissue necessary to keep it alive, will take about 3 hours. You will have a scar, that would be about 6 to 7 inches, and finally as I said yesterday, you should have no health problems your kidney will grow to take on the extra work but there should be no problem. You will have the same life expectancy, you are not at any extra odds for getting any diseases or cancer, but their is a slightly higher chance that you will have kidney failure in the future. The good news though is that, for your donation of your kidney, you will be placed higher on the list if need be." She started to get up, properly to check on some of the tests.
Their Nick yawned and said, "well great, I am going to have my beautiful skin, destroyed, but don't worry i'm just going to blame you for this." Nick just looked around for a little bit then added, "wow I am donating a kidney to a human, never thought that would ever happen." I smiled back, just thinking, how many animals have donate a kidney to a different species?
After a while of just talking, just relaxing before the surgery start. All of a sudden, a nurse came into the office and asked, "Nick, we are ready for you. If you are willing to follow me, we'll get you ready." Nick got up, and followed the nurse. When the nurse and Nick left, I decided to see if I could wait for until Nick is done with the operation.
While I was walking down the hallway. Michael the human who is turning into a lion, looked out of his door, and asked, "Officer Hopps, may I speak to you." I told him he could always talk to me, I took him to a separate room so that we could talk in private. Michael started saying, "I think it's time that me and airman Gillesbie, accept that we will be stuck here in Zootopia for the rest of our lives."
I told him that, "we are trying our hardest to get you home. Your species, seems to have the technology to change species. They should be able to help you get back to being human." He looked at me, I could see he did not believe. He knew, how unlikely especially since, his species properly still don't know that we exist.
He looked at me, and yelled but out of sadness not anger, "how can they turn us back to being human." He later change his tone to being soft, but still really sad, "I'm sorry, just this is hard. What (sigh), I am trying to say is, it might be time for me and airman Gillesbie, I mean John, should try to accept that we will be living the rest of our lives here."
After a while of talking, I said bye, and promised to help them adjust them to living in Zootopia. After small while, I did find a waiting room, on the floor that Nick will be having his operation.
