#5 of Rockfell

Well, here it is. The last of the BBTP, my very first novella. It was a bit of a journey to get to here, one where I grown attached to these two characters. Especially Zeke. So I hope you all enjoyed this story and keep an eye out for more stories based in the little world of Rockfell, along with my future novels!

Again comments are always welcomed ^^

P.S. Sorry for SF formatting, will try to fix it here shortly!

"Hmmm..." Miles tapped his chin with the dumbest-looking smile plastered across his little face.

My nose wiggled awkwardly. "Would you stop?!"

"What? I'm just mimicking you when you look at Collin," Miles snickered, which made me feel like burying myself underground.

It had been close to two months since I had moved into Collin's place. Well, I should say "ours", since he and Jane has been nipping my rear every time I called it "theirs". After that eventful night, things have been going (I'm scared to say this) perfect.

Jane had obviously taken things in stride and congratulated the two of us for finally stopping our dicking around and getting together. Collin, of course, still had his problems with being touched. Though sleeping together and well...having sex has definitely eased him into feeling even more comfortable with me than he does even with Jane.

Which she points out any time she can get a chance.

Of course I had told Miles about the whole ordeal a week after I officially got settled in. As such, he made sure to come by to the firm on a weekly basis to visit me (and of course to tease me).

Well, he did until Jane hooked him up with a job at the call center she works for selling cellphones. Now Miles comes over on almost a daily basis, since he hitches a ride with Jane to and from work. Which I'm still debating if that's good or bad.

"Can you not, just for once?" My brows furrowed playfully as I stabbed my fork into a piece of his lasagna.

"Whoa! Jane made your own, so keep your fork to yourself!" Miles tried to push me away, but was too slow and I still got a piece. "You butt-muncher..."

"I know, and I'm proud of it." I stuck my tongue out at him and shoved the fork in my muzzle.

Miles' face scrunched up in disgust, which was cute with his plump cheeks as he leaned back into his chair. "I don't need a glimpse into your private life. You perv."

"Whatever, I'm sure with Jane's loud mouth she had told you more things than you'd like to know," I said.

Miles shuddered. "Lord yes. Speaking of Jane, I wonder when the two of them are going to get back? Your lunch is about to be over here in twenty minutes."

I shrugged and looked past Miles and towards the office door. "Beats me. Supposed to be getting something to liven up the firm."

Miles shook his head. "Yeah, and we need to get back to work too."

We both looked at each other and rolled our eyes at the exact same time. "So how is the shelter going for you? Saved up enough money yet to get your own place?"

"It's okay. The asshole got fired, like I said. Though as for my own place, I still want to make sure I have enough for a bed, TV, my PS4, and a few games."

"You still aren't going to beat me in Naruto." I stuck my tongue out and flinched at getting meat sauce to the face. "Hey!"

Miles flipped me off, then paused as the sound of the door opening caught our attention. "Hello, welcome to the law firm of Collin Harper. We're currently aren't open for another...Sis?"

A Liger stood in the door, just a few inches shorter than me, no mane whatsoever. Her coat was just a few shades lighter than my own, and her muzzle was slimmer and longer than mine. She was currently wearing a short-sleeve t-shirt, some khakis, and a baseball cap on her head. But what I noticed most was her eyes.

My sister, Dionne, had the brightest hazel eyes out of all of us, where the emerald shines like the gem itself. Yet, when I looked at them they were dulled as so many emotions ran across them. Her bottom lip trembled, as did her paw holding up her purse. Her eyes never left me as she dropped her purse and stormed over towards me. "You bloody asshole, you!" she snarled with no heat behind her words as she came up and punched my chest.

I stepped back from the force and Miles jumped up, but I held out my paw as Dionne clutched onto my shirt. "Why, why didn't you tell me what was going on? Why is it that I had to find out from dad after visiting that you were gone?

"You could have come over, lived with me. I wouldn't have turned you away, so why...why didn't you just call..." She slapped my chest. Tears were now running down her face.

I was...flabbergasted. What the hell do I say to this? Sorry sis, I thought you were a bigot like everyone else? After I called up my brother and the reception I got from him, I didn't want to even risk calling my sister only to have the same thing happen again.

My ears perked up and I looked towards the door to see Collin and Jane standing there watching. Collin had a confused look on his face, while Jane looked like she was going to strangle me, most likely after hearing my sister's constant rant. Miles now looked calm and rubbed the bridge of his nose as he tried to hold back from laughing.

All while my sister was showing how much she took after our mom with her emotional outburst.

"I...after Robert told me to fuck off I didn't want to call you... I guess after everyone else burned the bridges I didn't want the last one to do the same to me... I'm sorry sis."

Her eyes slitted and she punched me again. This time there was some fire to it that made my eyes widen. "Fuck Robert. He might be our brother but he's so far up dad's ass that he can't see left from right... I had to force him to tell me where you were and that took four days of blowing up his voice mail."

I coughed and shook my head. The sting on my chest was strangely also comforting as I saw my sister looking like she was going to rip me apart. I couldn't stop the smile from coming across my face as I said, "I take it you chewed him a new one?"

Dionne crossed her arms and looked like she was going to spit, but stopped as she finally seemed to realize she was in an office. When she looked around and saw everyone there, her body eased up, but that was all. My sister isn't the type to be embarrassed easily. "Of course. This is me we're talking about."

"Lord, so someone that can actually cuss as much as Zeke, I've seen it all." Miles shook his head.

My sister smiled and swatted my chest again, leaving her paw on it. "Nah, I'm far worse. Blame the Italian in our blood."

Jane coughed and Collin laughed. "Well that would explain it all!" Collin smiled and walked towards us. Dionne's eyes shot towards his walking cane. She said nothing, but I could see the caring warmth in her eyes. "I'm Collin, Zeke's boss. It's a pleasure to meet you," he said.

"Don't forget boyfriend," I said, before I had a chance to think.

Dionne eye's widened as she looked back between Collin and me. I could feel that she felt a little awkward. Maybe because of the blunt introduction that reminded her that yes, I'm gay, or it might have been that I'm dating a blind guy. I didn't know, but that didn't stop her from taking Collin by the arm and pulling him into a hug. "Come here, there's no need to be so stiff around family." She patted his back and smiled. "Thank you for taking care of my little brother and...for giving him a place to work..."

And uncomfortable blush perked up on Collin's face, but he nodded. "I have to thank you, because I'm not sure what I would do without this liger in my life."

"Well at least he can keep you out of trouble," Jane snickered while walking up to the desk. I didn't have time to react before she passed me a Wal-Mart bag. "Here you go. Something for the two of you to liven things up in here. Dionne, correct? I'm Collin's older sister. I heard a lot about you from Zeke."

"Oh?" Dionne looked towards me, then at Jane, who was discreetly motioning towards the door. Both my sister and Miles had picked up the hint as they followed Jane to the door. "I'd like to hear what Zeke had to say. Hopefully nothing too bad" she said, stopped, and then looked back towards me. "I'll be outside for a bit...we do need to talk, okay?"

I nodded, and smiled as the three of them walked out the door, leaving me and Collin in the room.

"That was...unexpected," Collin mused, mostly to himself, as he rubbed his chin.

"Yeah. I guess my sister wasn't like the others after all."

Collin tilted his head towards me, then took a seat on my desk. "Surprised?"

I took a seat as well, and fiddled with the bag Jane had given me. "That's an understatement...there's going to be a lot of catching up to do. I'm sure my chest will be bruised by tonight."

Collin chuckled. "Don't worry. I'll make sure to kiss it to make it better."

"Whatever!" I grinned and opened the bag. Inside of it was a picture of both me and Collin. It was the one Jane took the week after I moved in. We were both out in the backyard, BBQ since it was a sunny day out. Collin had on a short t-shirt and pants, and I was rocking it out with a sleeveless shirt and shorts. It was a nice photo where we was both kneeling down in front of the little pond out back, my head on Collin's shoulders and his face against my muzzle. Jane had even gotten him to open his eyes, and directed them to the camera by having him follow her voice.

The picture was in a frame that said "Together, Forever". When I looked up at Collin, I could see his head dipped down towards me, his ears up and listening to my breathing. Putting down the picture, I got up and wrapped my arms around his neck and hugged him tightly. His arms coiled around my waist as he whispered: "My Liger."

I purred and closed my eyes. Behind them I could still see the rage I held for my family, the BS I went through from the homeless center, and the anxiety and strife that had plagued me each and every day since that shitty incident with my parents. However, when I opened my eyes up, all I could see was the most amazing person in the world. Someone who never judged me, never criticised me, who had been through so much more and gave me just as much back.

We were both blinded by our pasts, and hated it to the point that it was unbearable. However, I could see my future through this damn lovable husky, and I knew he could as well, blind or not. "Yes I am. And you're my husky."
