Chapter 7 - Time
#7 of Valkyrie - Pegasus - Book 3 - The Light of the End
Chapter 6 â€" Time
Location: Valkyrie â€" In Orbit of Xan'thera.
When Colin got back to ship, he looked different to all the others, somehow he looked a little conflicted. Ultraviolet could sense that something had shaken up his beliefs but she could not put her fingers on directly what it actually was that was causing him to look so confused.
He proceeded onto the Bridge, Freyja had informed him that because of the breakdown she could no longer project her ethereal form in this galaxy and therefore could not leave the planet and accompany them. Colin looked at Ultraviolet but said nothing... she could already tell from the expression on his muzzle what he was thinking.
He sat down in his chair and took in a deep breath, allowing himself time to fully grasp the situation and then started to tap into some mathematical coordinates into the ship's computer.
"Djynn, lock on to what is at that target and teleport it onto the Bridge." Djynn acknowledged the order in confusion and a white equine began to materialise onto the bridge, releasing his large white wings.
"Diamond!" shouted Blackfire from his position at the back of the room. He immediately drew his gun, Anna turned around an gasped in complete confusion. "You're DEAD!? I killed you myself..."
"Then you must have done a pretty sloppy job of it" replied Diamond sharply, standing before the bridge members of the Valkyrie.
"Its alright!" said Colin put his hands up, "I think I ought to explain a little first..."
Location: Galladia's Ship â€" The Exodus â€" Alexandria
Galladia sat in her throne as the black tentacles wrapped wrong her body. She could feel the Collective, like a living, breathing organism echoing deep inside her head. She was so close... she could feel it! The conversion of the Alexandrian people into the Dark Collective had gone better then expected and soon the very essence existence would be hers. She could create a perfect society, devoid of free will, a complete utopia for her eternal rule.
She had been unable to move while serving as the director and managing the Collective, the tentacles were wrapped round her body, pulsating which gave a powerful sense of human pleasure as they rubbed up against her body.
This was her throne...
Kestra walked into the room, she appeared to have been completely mutilated into an almost plant-like being. She still had a humanoid shape as her body had reverted back to its true human "Divine-form" instead of her Echidna form. However her skin was green with bulging black veins and a very strange growth on the back of her head that drilled directly into her skull.
"I know..." said Galladia in triumph. Kestra did not even have to say anything first as she was linked to the will of the collective. Galladia could hear her thoughts, her feelings, feeling the energetic power of her "real-self" trapped inside her metaphorical vines and buried so deep that nobody could break through it. Exposure to the Serenity Virus tended to do that to people, turn them into something against their will.
Galladia always enjoyed the vain struggle...
"What about the ship that escaped us?" asked Kestra, loosing most of the will and emotion from her voice. Words with no emotion, no true meaning.
"The Valkyrie has met with the remaining Asgard who have convinced them to help them stop us. However I have it well under control at the moment, the ship will soon be experience a few "technical difficulties"." Galladia's eyes flushed with a full beam.
"The dimensional portal is now stable enough for travel to the roots of Yggdrasil. However it is not wide enough for this ship and will require another two days for us to widen it enough to fit the Exodus through." chanted Kestra monotonously.
Galladia immersed herself back into her tentacles, allowing one of them to plug directly into the back of her head.
Location: Valkyrie â€" Briefing Room â€" Xan'Thera System
"TIME TRAVEL!?" shouted Ultraviolet in disbelief as she watched Colin sigh an return to sipping his coffee and smoking a light cigarette. "ARE YOU INSANE?"
Diamond looked over at the others, he was pretty pleased that Blackfire and Anna were willing to hear him out rather then just shooting him outright, he did not want his life to be wasted so quickly.
"Listen" he said staring at Ultraviolet. "No offence to your "keen" sense of nature but we have already lost. We lost as soon as Ada, Galladia and Kestra came together and united to destroy Terra. We need to travel back in time to ensure the Raven's Nest Shipyard is destroyed and Kestra's body is killed.
"Why!?" shouted Blackfire who was just as angry about this ridiculous idea as Ultraviolet. "Anyway time travel is impossible!"
"It's not impossible" continued Diamond as he looked between the two. "Look, Kestra has probably been adapted to the Dark Collective by now which means that Galladia has he anchor."
"Anchor!?" asked Ultraviolet looking out at the stars from the large windows in the room.
"You really are quiet stupid for a nature spirit" remarked Diamond sharply which made Ultraviolet turn around and scowl at him. "Yes... anyway.., The Asgard used to be routed in this universe but they expanded to exist BETWEEN universes. The disadvantage of this is that they cannot take physical form in the our universe until either you shoot them with that special weapon... gun thingy that you were telling me about or they have an anchor. Kestra is a more compatible "puppet" because she shares the same blood as Galladia... The same DNA code...!"
"So what you are saying is that we can have a chance to save Terra... Alexandria and all the people that have died along the way?" asked Djynn with hopeful intentions as he cut across the conversation.
"Potentially... yes" smiled Diamond.
"Diamond has suggested that with the Asgard's help we might be able to be able to travel back in time and destroy Kestra, preventing Galladia from physically entering this universe and keeping her trapped... away from Yggdrasil and ultimate power... yadda, yadda, yadda." smiled Colin at Ultraviolet and Blackfire who were still looking very sceptical at this idea.
"The is just one major catch..." added Diamond causing Colin to turning around to look at Diamond.
"The procedure we are suggesting for time travel will only work ONCE and there is no way back after we have completed the mission. We miss our window of opportunity and bye bye... universe" he said lighting up a cigarette.
Many in the room were shocked by Diamond's flippant comment. "And it does mean that we need an assault team?"
"I think I can help you with that?" said a voice at the door who had been listening from the door at the climatic discussion.
He was a powerful looking horse, with massive rippling muscles, he had on a hat with two slits for his ears to poke out. Diamond chuckled at the thought that maybe he had been watching way too many "Eastern films" about the ancient east on Terra.
"And who the hell are you?" asked Diamond, looking at him.
"Was just transferred to the Valkyrie bout a week ago" he said, his accent was strange mix of traditional Chentrilla dialect and Eastern dialect from the continent of Sierra on Terra. "... as 'ead of security..."
Colin stared at him with surprise. "I was not informed..." he said suspicious. The horse looked like he could snap most of the room in two.
"Well that's cos you got relieve of command" he made a valid point causing Colin to look over at Djynn who was staring into space for some reason.
"Djynn?" asked Colin, standing up from the table. Djynn still stared aimlessly into space. "DJYNN!" he said slamming his fist onto the table.
"YES SIR! SHIELDS AT MAXIUM!" shouted Djynn jumping back into reality from his daydream. Everyone in the room chuckled slightly at him. "I'm sorry... captain no sleep for a few days will do that to a person."
"Is this guy our new head of ship security?" asked Colin immediately after nodded at Djynn's apology.
"Yeah, he's a lieutenant Sundery Aries, he was headmaster of Phoenixa College back on Terra. He's a renowned hard-ass."
Aries smiled at that comment as Diamond looked up at him. "A horcia? They are quite rare these days..."
"Yeah and unlike you scrawny thing... I'm not a poof." chuckled Aries as he took a seat next to an uncomfortable Anna.
"I'm not a "poof"..." shouted Diamond in protest which made the room chuckle a little bit more.
"Yeah?" asked Aries as he put a cigar to his huge maw. "Ya a pegasus... despite being a freak... look at how scrawny you are! What's ya name?
Diamond rapidly was loosing patience with this other horse. He hated members of his race that consider Pegasui as being freaks. Even more, he hated how muscular he was... so much that it made him twitch downstairs.
"Diamond"
Aries let out a massive laugh. "That's about the most sissy-boy name I've ever heard"
"Can we please get back to the subject at hand?" said Colin quietly.
"Why you got wolf features?" asked Aries ignoring Colin's comment completely and looking at Diamond's strange tail and wolf markings. "Was ya mama a wolfy-girl?"
"I dunno... why you got such freakishly large muscles, you taking steroids?" he countered making Aries slightly infuriated at the comment as he leant back on the chair puffing on the cigar.
"You go girl!" shouted Blackfire laughing in hysterics with Ultraviolet as Diamond shot them a dark look.
"LOOK CAN WE PLEASE GET TO OUR BRIEFING!" shouted Colin which made everyone in the room jump. "Does time travel mean that we save all the others that were lost in the Battle of Terra?"
"In simple words... Yes" said Diamond. "But remember we are changing history, there is no telling how events will be changed in the future."
"Sounds like one big party to me..." smiled Aries puffing on his cigar.
Colin breathed a sigh of relief. This could give him a chance to save Miles, that was about the only thing on his mind. He wanted to save Hy and Oriyn because they were fine engineers and so many people had been lost to this war it would be a great moral booster for the crew that they could change history.
"So how do we go back in time...?"
Diamond smiled at Anna. Anna looked back at him in surprise. "What are you looking at me for?"
"You have Divine Lance Gungnir, the item you took from me on Helfhiem. We are going to need it to engage the temporal inversion."
