In Between The Chasm Of Lead and Leadership
Finished this poem the other day and now I’m posting it here. Another vent poem but as opposed to my last poem venting about the state of the world this is venting about more personal problems. Mainly work ones because I’ve been dealing with a whole mess of a situation at work that’s been going on since about the middle of December. This whole situation has lead to some serious changes at my job and that’s taken a good amount of my focus and has caused me real stress. Took me a while to put it into words in a way I was satisfied with and that’s why this poem took a while but I’m glad I’m done with it.
In Between The Chasm Of Lead and Leadership
By: A.X. Bueno
Nothing is quite the same as before
They have made a chasm from what was once a door
An emptiness that spans a good distance that they say they’ll fill
And they leave you guessing every day and every week on whether they will
They make up excuses and give such dubious info and reasons on why it’s still there
Concerned at first but by now you’ve run out of energy with which to care
For it’s been more weeks than several and you’re doing just fine
Managing practically as well as you did previously as they attempt to malign
Trying to point out flaws and cracks that supposedly surround this hole
And their micromanaging is taking an exhaustive toll
For this hole is mainly their shortsighted faults that they should have fixed by now
But they don’t have to take blame or give explanations or address how
How exactly they could plan all of this out so very poor
Unwilling to transparently discuss Struggling with the concept to give a little more
Whether that’s information or money they clearly didn’t expect much fuss
But you know your and your team’s worth, far from superfluous
They can try and rely on old tactics and play their petty games over this hole
But you know what they’re doing and sooner or later they’ll pay the toll
For this hole is from their own devices made
And the build up of what is owed typically ends up being paid
Maybe then at least one of you can fill in this chasm using foundations already well laid
