There’s Still Space For Lambs
So I’ve been distracted lately and let myself develop a small backlog of poetry and maybe a piece of art or two. Figured it’s past time I got around to posting it so this was a poem meant for Easter… posted in May but it’s still relevant even if the day it was meant for passed a while ago already. Some religious themes but a pretty general message.

There's Still Space For Lambs
By: A.X. Bueno
Today marks a special day
The day that marks the resurrection of a lamb
That was also a man
The lamb of god as they've said
3 days dead
He healed the sick
Cured the blind
Accepted any he happened to come across and find
He aspired to both be and teach others to be loving and kind
To be a source and way of salvation
That said I don't want any conflation
This is merely preamble and saying what's been said before
Establishing who this lamb was before going to talk about more
To talk about two versions of the holiday happening on the same day
Orthodox and the other denominations as well
A rare coincidence to not let slip away
Without considering what good connections could quell
In a world where cruelty is abundant and kindness a harder sell
Where people want to run things and be alphas without grasping
What that all really means so they make clumsy power grabs to leave us gasping
And so many feel the ugly parts of themselves aren't worth masking
So in this time I wouldn't mind seeing less
Less faulty interpretations of what lone wolves and lions are like
I don't think you even need to be a believer to acquiesce
That there are too many people on edge and willing to flat out strike
In times like these a few more lambs are not something I'd mind
I think kindness, love and acceptance are values I'd like more to find
And that is why I say
There should still be space for lambs especially on days like today
