Hello! This story is in the same world as the Epic of Irgano Ayethy. I'm working on Part 2 of the epic, but I prefer to work on it as a whole instead of in pieces. So, I'll be writing this story as well and upload its continuations regularly.

Chapter 1 :

“Through Neria the veil is pierced." “What is unseen shall…be seen." “What is hidden shall…be found." “Aki Falathy[[1]](#_ftn1)" The Voice of the Abbot reverberated within the chamber.

The room filled with the chorus of voices repeating back the prayer. I as well. As I have done everyday since I can remember. The Ca Ilnthathy Shyinuthy Neria[[2]](#_ftn2) is the guide of the order. I've alongside all my brethren have had it memorized since childhood. Every day at sunrise, the entirety of the monastery gathers in the main chamber and Abbot Veiyais begins the daily reading. Once the reading is complete we begin to tend to our assigned tasks. As an Oealathy Iln[[3]](#_ftn3), my duties are of upmost importance. To study the books, record them, and write new ones based upon the old ones. All monasteries of the order have but three goals. To follow Neria, study and record the books, and uncover hidden knowledge. Though I know not of the other monasteries beyond what I have read. My monastery- Falathy Irifalathy Fa cakipibo[[4]](#_ftn4)- has lost contact with the rest of the order since Osidi 10th king of the United Kingdoms. But it matters not, our work shall continue. For it is written in the 2nd book of the Hymns line 125-126 “ Those who seek knowledge are blessed, those who uncover the hidden shall not ever worry. Those who work in the ways of Neria are blessed by him.". The Order has not wavered and therefore we shall always continue.

The sound of horns blared across the stone halls of the monastery. It is not forbidden for my brethren to curse, merely frowned upon. Judging by the amount of such curses much work was disturbed by the horns. The work continued until once more the horns sounded. Again, and Again they repeated. Until thankfully, they halted. Such a disturbance is unheard of, quite literally, in the mountains. My curiosity was piqued but, as is taught in the Fufalathy Afineria Ilnthathy[[5]](#_ftn5) chapter 7 line 32 “curiosity is sated only by the completion of the task of the monk." and so I continued my work. Which at the moment was the studying of “A Compendium of relics of the Kingdom", written a time after the fracturing of the kingdom. As I began to write a summary of the book, I realized I had not brought enough paper. Unfortunate. I head down to the store room. As I did I passed through the front and main courtyard. Abbot Veiyais stood on the gate…speaking? Pilgrims have not come to our monastery since, according to Brother Meto, Trait[[6]](#_ftn6) was independent. I noticed the Prior and Sub-prior alongside elder brothers with Veiyais they seemed…concerned. I stood there until Brother Cafrakila grabbed my arm.

“Ghake what are you doing?"

“ I'm heading to the store room, I require paper." Cafrakila looked at me for a moment before sighing

“Very well, hurry up and try to stay inside. This is not time for kitish wondering. The Abbot is dealing with business. It is of no worry." Cafrakila was terse and aggravated. He never is. Cafrakila's face softened “ I'm sorry Ghake. It's been a long day. It's just important to stay inside. “

“Yes Brother Cafrakila. Aki Falathy"

“Aki Falathy, Oealathy"

It is only just after midday. Its must be a very very long day for it to be a long day so soon. But as Cafrakila said, no time for kitish wondering. It's my fault. I've always been like that since forever. By the time I make it back to my work station within the library. I hear once more the blaring horns. Annoying. But then I hear what must be…screaming. There was a sound. A thud and another one. At each thud the monastery shook. Books carefully organized fell and toppled. Dust shook from every surface. Every brother in the library was worried. The thudding continued and Cafrakila entered with a suddenness. He was panting and worried beyond recognition. He looked at the library. Counting myself, it was populated with 11 brothers all Oealathytha. He spoke catching his breaths between words

“Hurry everyone to the back of the library and follow me." He ran to the back of the room and we followed. The back of the library was a wall. On it was a painted and faded mural of Neria and First Abbot Ghayaani[[7]](#_ftn7). Cafrakila looked at the mural and found a loose stone. He pulled it out and stuck his paw into the hole. A click was heard and a hole opened on the floor. “Everyone" He spoke with concern “Jump into the hole, hurry!"

Brother Palosi spoke " I can't see the bottom, If we jump I don't think that will be very nice."

“Palosi, your commentary is always appreciated but not at the moment, jump in the hole. We have no time." The brothers collectively held a snicker. Few appreciated Palosi's commentary. One by one we jumped into the hole. With every jumped a splash was heard. I Jumped.

I landed in a pool of water. Across the pool about a stride's length off was a stone ledge that the rest of the Brothers had gather upon. The ledgde led to 2 doors. The pool of water seemed to continue quite far. I heard 3 more splashed behind me. Once we were all gathered. Cafrakila spoke hurriedly

“ There is no time to explain everything to your all. For now we must continue. We shall break up into groups. It's safer. Each of you might see that are 3 paths. The pool continues out. And the two doors in front of us. These all lead to various places outside the monastery. there are twelve of us. 3 groups of 4. When you reach the outside, head trait. Brother Kama, Yakla, Artusha, and Hakria. You 4 are the best swimmers head out using the pool."

They responded

“Aki Falathy" and they were off.

“ Brother Ghake, Palosi, Dahany, and I shall take this door and you that four take the other one."

We responded

“Aki Falathy."

Palosi was a smallish fox. His coat was light grey and his eyes brown. He was known for one thing and one thing only. Talking. But even he was silent. Dahany on the other hand was always silent and broody. His coat is like mine, smoky red. In fact, Dahany and I were quite alike in all but broodiness and my greater conviction to the monastery. The tunnel was dark and cramped. It smelled old. As we reached the end light began to shine through and I could make out the tunnel. The tunnel was at a slight but noticeable incline. Its walls were tuff[[8]](#_ftn8) like the monastery. The tuff was quarried up river in the highlands of the Fa Cakipibo. In the olden days barges traveled up and down the Red river selling tuff at Trait and buying it from the quarry. From their it traveled across the prosperous and united kingdoms for use in buildings and monuments across the land. The tuff from this area was prized due to its siiklo[[9]](#_ftn9) nature. In fact it is said that the Palace of the Golden Kings was partially built with the siiklo tuff. Or so it is written. After about 10 minutes we reached the end of the tunnel.

When we exited the tunnel. We were located at the base of the Mt. Neria. The home of the monastery. The sun met us in a glorious sunset. The pine and fir trees glistened with the warm tones of the fading sunlight. And our faces cold and damp from the tunnel were kissed with its warmth as the sun left and the moon came. I had never left the monastery or seen a sunset. For the end of the day recitals happened at sunset. I would have stayed there forever if not for the fact Palosi gasped. We turned towards the Mountain and saw…the monastery…our home…my home. All I've ever known was engulfed in terrifying flames. They were far off but I could hear their voracious ignorant hunger. Consuming centuries of knowledge and my years of labour. Everything I've done and know is in flames. I would have cried if not for the fact Cafrakila began speaking

“As it is written in book 5 of the hymns line 23 Despair not for we have the pen and with the pen all is possible."

“ and what could the pen do!?" Dahany nearly screamed

“What happened, were we attacked?" Palosi interjected. I voiced my concerns as well

“ What are we going to do now! We should be reading the Hymns and preparing for night!"

“What about everybody else?" When Palosi spoke Dahany and I were silent and we stared at Cafrakila. He was silent staring into the distant flames.

“I don't know. We were attacked by a band of Uicala[[10]](#_ftn10) from deeper in the Fa Cakipibo."

I spoke up

“Why would they attack us?"

“Yeah why?" Palosi and Dahany both asked as well

“I don't know. All that matters is that we continue traveling. We must make it to Trait."

Dahany chuckled

“ Trait is miles off. We have no supplies, we have nothing."

“Dahany remember book 5 of the Hymns lin-“

“Curse the books! Curse Neria! What have they brought us but misery?!"

“Dahany, your mind is clouded by sorrow, and your heart is heavy"

“The Hymns said that we were safe."

“If we followed them. Dahany, Palosi, Ghake. The way of Neria is hidden. That is our mission as scholars and fufalathy, to find it. I am not abbot, I am a mere brother like your three. I do not have all the answers why and of our misfortune. But what I do know is that our order has withstood for centuries. The Blessing of Naria or not, we must make for haven. We will not have haven till Trait. That is to be our goal. Those who wish may come, or they may go."

I spoke first “I see no other real option but to go. Besides Cafrakila is my friend. He has mentored and helped raise me. I shall not abandon him."

“ Well, I'd rather try my chances with the beasts of the wild than the beasts that burned down the monastery." Palosi responded. Dahany begrudging nodded his head. With that we were off. Into the forests of the Fa Cakipibo.
