Hyfrydal

Story by Rob MacWolf on SoFurry

Had a few drinks. Wrote a pagan hymn for Solstice/Pride. In case you want once of those.

Honestly I've felt the lack of something set to Hyfrydal for years now, it's a relief to have that fixed.

Praise the Father of midwinter

Who begets the Conquering Cold

Praise and pity too the Vagrant

Stretch to him your hand, to hold.

Void yet virile, unchaste yet childless,

Take away the heat of our days

Till we stand like thee unsweltering

Harsh midsummer's hostile gaze.

Praise the Flame of Many Colors

Proudly kindled within our heart.

Praise the fallen, praise the risen,

Praise the Courage they impart.

Ever changing, rearranging,

Truth transforming to truth more Brave.

Burn thou away all that is unworthy

Of my soul, the best the save.

Praise the sunset: wolf and father,

In the utmost west enthroned.

Ever patient there, to greet us,

There to name us as his own.

Final refuge, Rest From Grieving,

Blessed the evening I reach thy shore

Where I shall shed at last my burdens

To be thine forevermore.
