City Made Beautiful by Love.

Story by Alister Kane on SoFurry

, , , ,

The first of a series of poems I made for a book I want to write. Wish me luck.

When I met you, I couldn’t talk.

The rampant machinations of my childish mind

Ceased in intrigue as you entered,

Awakening the city of my love like a dawning sun.

You said nothing,

Saw nothing,

Were nothing,

Till we met…

Or so I thought…

Now, as the thin veil of mortality

Begins wrapping around me,

I fear the day you will leave me,

Because I know what will happen.

The electric fireflies that dance on the window sill, will just be lights.

The traffic orchestra, playing such sweet melodies, will just be cars.

The Streetside Gallery, stretching for blocks with its beauty, will just be scrawls.

The serene atmosphere permeating our city will be hollow.

Not even nature will be the same.

The gentle laughter of the rain, which wash away our sorrows, will be sorrowfully wet.

The soothing summer wind, which raise our spirits, will be agitatingally cold.

The curious water, which teaches us to be present, will dully come in and out.

The wondrous sky, which opens our minds to all the possibilities, will be ordinarily boring.

The warm setting sun,

Heralding in our cozy nights,

Will be just a light, fading, fading, fading

Ushering the harsh oblivion of my loss.

For with you gone, I am nothing.
