One of my first poems of this year. The first of a set of two vent poems actually because this year started off rough and honestly I’ve only recently managed to solve some of its problems. This one is about renewal. Originally posted this in January 2024.
In the Process of a Year's Renewal

There's plenty of work and effort that can go into starting anew
Or you can relax and lie back to wait and watch the days continue
Whatever you choose make sure to do it with enough time
You've got to be prepared for a number of shifts in things
Some it feels like you've been putting off for a lifetime
Of course in actuality it's only been a year maybe three
When it comes to somethings who can say
There's varying degrees of urgency
To the various tasks to be done and you've been quite busy
But you've got only so much time so you have to get cracking and press on
In the process of another year's renewal mulling over how the last is going to be gone
Last year was kind of bitter and yet this renewal still feels bittersweet
Unsure of what the future has in store
Not sure yet what parts of history will repeat
Yet you still have to get through this renewal
At least halfway for its something that for your sake you can't ignore
