If It Was Ever In Sight
When I wrote this it was capturing the feelings of the first half of the month and also was the first vent poem I had written in a while. At the time things seemed like they were getting better but lately I’m not so sure of that so this poem goes right back to being relevant to my mood. Originally posted this in July 2024
If It Was Ever In Sight

You have a broad idea of when it began
When you felt yourself start slipping
When everything you did started becoming more at risk of going wrong
More mistakes became noticeable and you start to wonder what's going on here
It's not like you've never slipped up before but something's different these days
You're not sure when it started or how
But suddenly it's hitting you all at once right now
The accumulation of stress, extra burdens given and doubts hit you hard
As it all catches up with you as you relax and slow down
Try to regain your grasp on things
As you feel like you only barely missed a potential breakdown
At this point you're not sure where your edge really is
You wonder if you've passed it or if it was ever really there at all
Maybe it'll come back within sight
All you can do sometimes is just wait and see
And try to minimize whatever damage you might unintentionally do
Seeing if your belief that there's something you've been lacking lately
Is it all in your head or is it true.
