Chapter Fifteen

“Aftermath"

By

Furry Sith Lord

BH was in the secret side tunnel he had the humans make in order for him to make a quick escape. He tried to get Bear to follow him but he was too preoccupied with the humans. He could not believe he had chosen them over him. BH had been planning everything to help Bear rebuild their home and this was how he got treated?

He pulled a cord and the entrance he had walked through collapsed as a small bomb created a cave in to seal the entrance. This was his idea to make the entrance impossible to find in case some fur wanted to follow him.

When the dust cleared he reached for a small battery powered lantern so he could see around him as he followed the tunnel. Anger slowly built as he followed the tunnel to the exit. His thoughts kept drifting towards Bear and his caring for the worthless humans more than he cared about him.

He could not believe he would abandon the mission to build the White Community because a bunch of hairless apes were too primitive to exist properly. Species had evolved yet the tiny remnants of humans were still too uneducated to live in civilized society. They still hunted with wooden spears and their minds were amazed when they first saw what a gun was.

His thoughts drifted back to when the White Community had fallen after those regular species attacked. He wondered if Bear had cared more then perhaps they would still have their home.

There were rumors that Bear had a book that could prove that species born with rare white colored fur were not evil. He knew the truth the whole time yet he had kept it secret. Hiding the evidence for that species like himself were hated because of their fur color and ostracized for no reason. No reason other than he wanted to control them!

He lost the community they built of rare white fur species so he was turning his attention towards the hairless ape humans. A species so idiotic they had no idea about cleaning themselves to control disease and make their miserable lives better.

He came to the realization that everything he had been taught by Bear was a lie. Right when they had been captured and extermination was evident, Bear ran off and left them to die. The deer that had been the leader of the army was the only one that spared them. He found the evidence Bear hid and brought it to light ending the stigmatism of being a rare white fur species.

Bear appeared on television later as a spokes bear for Soda Coke. He wore a slave collar but BH now wondered if that was fake too. He knew now that everything had been a lie and Bear had been using them. He felt like such a fool that he had been tricked into believing that happiness was serving Bear. The scales had finally fallen from his eyes and at last he could see the truth. From now on he’d do things his way.

When he had been running the humans, everything fell into place perfectly. Once Bear arrived the army attacked and they had lost the city they had captured. He suddenly stopped daydreaming as he reached the end of the tunnel only to realize the exit had been sealed by a cave in.

He could smell explosives and knew the army must have found it and sealed it tight. He was trapped in here and unless he found a way out he would be buried alive. He began to use his claws to try and dig the thick rocks out of the way. He only hoped he had enough oxygen.

General Sharptooth stormed over to Lou as he used a clipboard to mark off the last of the humans that were being loaded on the transport vehicle he had brought.

“Hold it right there!” The General shouted. Lou calmly stopped reading and turned a stern gaze at The General. Leggo shuffled over wearing the sweat pants he had been given. Now that the species that the humans had kept as pets were free they were allowed to wear clothing again. Lou had brought simple sweatpants and t-shirts to tide them over until they could get dressed in more reasonable attire.

Merrik sat in a beach chair still in only his fur because he refused the sweats that Lou had offered. He had managed to find a pair of sunglasses so he looked as if he was sunbathing in only his fur as he leaned back.

Tyger turned his attention to see what The General wanted when he heard him shouting at his father. Ben was next to him but he was busy listening to Dash tell of his adventures among the humans. Lyon listened to his best friend's stories with rapt attention.

“Those creatures,” he barked as he referred to the human prisoners. “Belong as sole property to the military.” The General said and Lou squinted his eyes as drool went flying out of The General’s mouth.

“No, they are officially my property since I am the one to round them up and capture them.” Lou replied, keeping his voice level. Leggo chuckled but quickly his face flushed as The General glared at him.

“This entire operation falls under military jurisdiction.” The General shouted.

“Then the humans you captured you may keep but the ones I’ve captured are mine.” Lou said as his voice was starting to take on an edge. He tried remaining calm but The General was trying his patients.

“So Maxx was the coolest and he helped me out. He wasn’t mean or nothin’ so I hope we can go easy on him.” Dash was saying.

“He’s their storyteller?” Lyon asked as he scratched his mane. They had been out here watching for days so the parts of his mane that were growing in were itching like crazy. He desperately wanted a shower but not as much as Dash.

Dash smelled badly because the humans did not let their pets use showers. Lyon tried to ignore the smell as he stood near his best friend but the others kept their distance.

“He is the storyteller but all he does is tell them movies we’ve seen and pretends they are stories he’s written.” Dash explained.

“You will remit them to us immediately or be arrested under the authority of the government.” The General said to Lou.

“Oh really? And with all the tech my company produces, do you want me to cut off all supplies to the government? Which, I believe, will trickle down to your military?” Lou replied evilly and the General’s face went pale. “Without my company’s support I can guarantee that a cub with a water pistol will have more firepower than you.”

“Well…” The General stammered.

“Not to mention that currently I am working in joint cooperation with C.I.Z.A.” Lou explained. The General turned a shade of white at the mention of C.I.Z.A. being involved.

“I had not been informed they took an interest in this matter.” The General said as his voice lowered. Tyger walked over and stood next to his father and smelled satisfaction on his scent. The stink of fear from the General made Tyger smile and he turned and saw his dad smiling too. He must have smelled the fear also.

He regretted that his father did not have the heightened senses that Predators have. He could have been even more satisfied if he could smell the fear that he was causing. Tyger grabbed his dad’s paw and pulled him aside.

“Dad?” Tyger began but before he could finish Leggo licked his face making his fur stick out on end.

“Hi Tyger.” Leggo said with a smile as Tyger had to run his paw through his fur to straighten it.

“Some of the furs are asking about showers. Said the humans wouldn’t let them bathe.” Tyger explained.

“Hold on,” Leggo said, then he crept up and whispered in Lou’s ear. He finished by kissing Lou’s cheek and Lou grimaced as he used his hoof to wipe where he was kissed. He hated being interrupted during negotiations because he thought it made him look weak.

“General Sharptooth, would you like to do a service for C.I.Z.A.?” Lou asked.

Maxx sat on the ground shackled with Bear standing over him as a guard. They had been separated from the humans in order to keep the humans subdued. The feline the humans named Boots came over wearing sweat pants only and his angry gaze pierced Maxx’s heart. Maxx looked down at his feet in shame.

“You were supposed to be one of us and you treated us no better than those filthy humans did. You should be ashamed of your species.” He said bitterly and Bear grunted at the boy. Boots gave Bear the same look but remained silent. He spat on the ground at Bear’s feet then walked away.

“He needs time,” Bear said but Maxx began to cry. Bear hesitated a moment then rested his paw on Maxx’s shoulder.

“I wanted to help but I was afraid. Afraid they’d turn on me too.” Maxx wailed.

“Believe it or not you played an important role. You were the bridge between the humans and us. You taught them that all species are not mindless animals like BH was. The others might not realize it but you did more to help than they realize.” Maxx quieted as he sniffled.

“What will happen to me now?”

“Dunno, but I don’t know what they’ll do with me either. We’ll just have to wait to find

out together won’t we.” Bear replied.

“Where’s BH?” Maxx asked.

“Escaped I guess. He told me about a secret escape route he built but he never showed me

where it was.” Bear lied. He wanted to see if he knew any of BH’s plans because BH had told

him exactly where it was.

“He had us build it as a side tunnel from the main. He had a trigger put in that would

cause a cave in to hide it if he tried to make his escape.” Maxx explained.

“That’s dangerous. What if it causes a cave in? He’ll be buried alive.” Bear said and

Maxx shrugged.

“He won’t listen to anyone except you, apparently.” Maxx replied crestfallen.

“Would you be able to find the entrance if we searched?”

“No because It was devised to be hidden once the trigger activates. If he activated it there

there is no way I could find it. Plus, the cave in has tons of rock so not even he could claw his way out

if he tried digging without any tools. As far as I know there were no tools kept in there because

the pets and humans…” Maxx explained then Bear instantly interrupted him.

“Species! We are not referring to them as the pet prisoners of humans. It’s

degrading.” Bear instructed.

“You’re right. I’ve been doing it for so long that I keep forgetting. I really am ashamed of

myself for helping. I was a prisoner at first but then I joined in out of fear of what they would do

to me. After that it was play along with BH or become a pet. I was too cowardly for that.” Maxx

explained.

“It’s understandable. The idea of being their storyteller was a brilliant idea. Had you not

then who knows what they would have done with you.” Bear said.

“It sort of just happened. I really wasn’t planning on it. I was afraid and though the last

TV show I watched would interest them. The humans thought I was the one in the show and it

felt… nice to be appreciated for once.” Bear nodded understandingly as he was really getting to

know Maxx for once. Maxx had hated him from the beginning but now he was starting to

understand why.

“You must be anxious to see your family again.”

“Not really. They could not stand me. I doubt they even knew I was missing. The only

reason BH had me cubnapped was because I know how to be a blacksmith and he wanted me to

teach the humans how to make better weapons.”

I felt as if I was being pulled in many different directions. On the one paw I was

interested in what my father was doing to the General. On the other paw I wanted to show

support to Dash for all the hard work he had done for us. I had been watching the whole time so I

knew just about everything, even when he was exaggerating.

My brother was completely spellbound by the tales as he believed everything Dash said.

That was why I loved him so much; his innocence was something I sometimes wished I had. Our

father made in a sense beaten that outta me, metaphorically. Not that I blame my father because

he had made me stronger than I ever thought possible.

Once my dad was sure that father was capable of handling things he was busy annoying

Merrik as he tried sunbathing in only his fur. I was not sure why he refused to get dressed with

the clothes my father had ready for everyone but it must have been a matter of pride.

I was hoping to get my father aside so that we could discuss what was the next step now

that we had saved the humans.

“Have you sent in any medical staff to find and treat the wounded?” My father asked The

General.

“They are part of the clean up crew and will be checking as we speak.” The General

replied.

“Any remaining humans that are still alive because of your foolish attack, are to be

handed over to me by order of C.I.Z.A.” My father said sternly. I swear the General looked as if

ready to piss himself every time my father mentioned C.I.Z.A.

“Who’s a cute wittle woofie?” Dad asked Merrik as he used one of the fingers on his paw to touch Merrik’s nose. Merrik tried to swipe at him but my dad was too quick and quickly dodged him. I could see Merrik’s face turn red from anger and had he not been wearing sunglasses he would have been glaring.

“You’re asking for it!” Merrik growled.

“Awww are you gonna be the one to give it to me?” My dad mocked and this pissed off Merrik even more.

“Leggo!” My father shouted. “Stop teasing him.” My dad scowled at this

“I’m a wittle baby and my name is Merrik.” Dad said as he mocked by making his voice sound like a young baby cub. Merrik lost all control and jumped on top of my dad and forced him to the ground. My dad held him off by grabbing his wrists and it was clear my dad was stronger. He laid on his back on the ground pretending that Merrik had him pinned.

I heard my father sigh then I looked up and saw blood trickling down his face.

“Oh,” I remarked. It was a sign that my father’s antlers were about to fall out. Happens every year but he gets so embarrassed by this when it happens for some reason. My dad heard me and looked up and saw the blood then tossed Merrik aside like a pile of leaves. He was at my father’s side and caught the antlers as they popped off.

I heard my father curse then I saw Lyon pull on our dad’s sweatpants. He turned and I heard my brother whisper to him.

“Can Dash have those as a reward? He is family after all.”

“That’s a great idea.” Dad said but I stepped in before he could give them away.

“Dad, wait. Let’s give one to Dash and one to Ben. Just like the time you gave one to Lyon and me.” I said. Ben looked ready to refuse but my dad spoke up first.

“That’s a great idea.” He replied. He gave one to Dash and he hugged it as if a teddy bear then the last he gave to Ben. Benyamin looked at it then he looked at me as if wondering what to do.

Dad kissed my forehead then walked over to Lyon and Dash as Dash told tales of his adventures with the humans. I had viewed the monitors so I knew the stories even though Dash exaggerated somewhat. Dad sat down cross legged as he listened to the tales. Dash hugged his antler tightly as if it was the most precious thing in the world to him.

I turned away as Lyon began to fill Dash in on the episodes of Power Fur Rangers that he missed. I already knew what happened so I did not need a recap.

“I’d be surprised if there are any survivors. My team is very thorough.” General Sharptooth said. He was staring at the blood that smeared my father’s forehead. It can seem comical but my father looks like a young fawn when his antlers fall off. My father glared at him before responding.

“Like all mindless military soldiers, did it ever occur to you that the human species are almost extinct? These may very well be the last humans alive and you run out without a jock trying to eradicate what’s left of them. Simply because they are uneducated! Was that smart? Was that prudent? Or was it completely stupid!”

“Now you see here!” General Sharptooth shouted.

“Oh sorry, calling you stupid is an insult to stupid furs!” My father remarked calmly as The General’s face turned bright red with anger. He looked ready to bite my father’s head off but father was completely unphased. My tummy was twisting in knots and I was amazed that my father was cool about the whole thing. How could he be so calm? I never understood.

Dad looked as if he was about to jump in between the two of them to separate them from each other. Not that he would have to use much force on father. I honestly wondered who he feared more. The General or his husband.

My father’s cell phone rang and he stepped away to answer it.

“Yeah,” he answered.

“The reports we received say that the battle is over.” Leonidas said. I was lucky because my feline ears let me hear their conversation.

“Mission accomplished.” My father reported.

“Excellent.” Leonidas replied.

“See, everything has fallen into place.” Leonidas said as he ended the phone call with Lou.

“So what are you planning to do now that we captured the humans?” Billy asked.

“The research conducted on the white human child showed an amazing resilience and adaptation. After there was some initial confusion but it was found that it could easily adapt better than most species could.

With the proper training we can use them to serve us. Perhaps as assassins! The unassuming, uneducated, tribal humans can easily fit in and neutralize the targets we want without anyone thinking it is them.

They seem dumb and stupid but they are more like spiders that are waiting for an innocent species to fall prey to them in their webs.” Leonidas explained.

“Won’t it seem odd that the humans that were captured are suddenly running wild?” Ol' Ben asked.

“That depends on what we are going to do with the humans in general. Give them their own city and yes it will seem odd. If we somehow mix them into the populace in general, no one will care.” Layla said.

“That deer gave me a great idea. If we make the humans our slaves in order to pay for their crimes against us, we can keep some aside and train them as assassins. No one would suspect them. We keep and train the exceptional ones but the rest serve as slaves. It’s a perfect idea.” Leonidas explained. The other board members murmured among themselves as they came to agree.

“I see. We put our assassins in fake slave collars and no one will be able to tell the difference.” Billy said.

“Exactly.”

“The real question is can we trust that the deer will bring them to us? Considering the treachery he’s committed in the past.” Name2” asked.

“We’ll make him an offer he can’t refuse.” Leonidas laughed at his own cleverness.

The family returned to the mansion as they were accompanied by Bear and Merrik. The humans were kept in locked trailers and Lou had his security force keeping guard so they could not escape.

Only a couple of wounded humans remained in the paws of the military. The rest had been killed and Lou decided that the military should deal with the bodies since their attack had killed them. For the most part Lou’s plan had captured almost all of the humans.

Lou went into his office to fulfill his end of the deals he made with Merrik and Bear. He decided to call each of them inside to speak personally. He started off with Bear then made his way to Merrik. Lou was confident in the decision they were going to make because he had predicted what they would ask for just so he was still ready in case they decided to change things.

Merrik was finally wearing clothes now that his had been returned when they reached the

mansion. Merrik knew he had to get dressed to curry favor with Lou. Leggo and Lyon had been

plotting to walk around the mansion in only their fur when Lou heard them and slapped Leggo’s

paw. Tyger and Ben went into Tyger’s room to discuss plans they were making. Dash had been

sent home and began to tell tales of his heroism to his siblings.

“Per our agreement, how do you want to handle things?” Lou asked with his head

wrapped where his antlers had been. He sat at his desk trying to look as professional as he could

despite losing his antlers. It would be a couple of months before they grew back but he always

felt at a disadvantage when he lost them. Like without them his appearance made him seem

weaker.

“I want to go back to the way things were before. Remove all my memories so I don’t

have to remember the horrors I’ve been a part of.” Bear said firmly.

“As you wish. Are you still happy being an actor?”

“Yes. Although now that that bitch got me fired from Soda Coke, I would like to do more

movies.” This made Lou chuckle and seeing this made Bear smile.

“That can be easily arranged.” Lou said as he made a few notes on his computer and then

turned and smiled at Bear. Bear frowned as if he was thinking really hard and this caught Lou’s

attention.

“I have another request. Maxx Taurus-B, I’d like him to be my slave. He will be more of

a personal assistant but I figure as my slave he can pay for his crimes.” Bear said. Lou frowned

and rubbed his chin as he thought about this.

“That… maybe difficult. I planned on using him as a liaison to the humans in order to

help bring them into society. In order for him to serve both of you. I may have to have you take a

personal interest in the humans and campaign to show support. That could be tricky because they

are not well liked, at the moment, it could hurt your career.” Lou explained.

“Nothing would give me greater joy. I’ve become fond of the hairless balls and hope to

champion them becoming part of society. Think of this! A movie about the tribal humans

stumbling upon a secret that leads them to save the world. It could be a blockbuster.

“I think you’re onto something.” Lou remarked. He opened a draw and removed a black

slave collar that had diamonds embedded into it. Bear raised an eyebrow as he looked at it.

“We can’t have a famous actor wearing a gaudy regular old slave collar can we?

Especially if he is to be the champion of humans.” Lou said then attached it to Bear’s neck.

Merrik entered the office and folded his arms across his chest as Lou gestured to a chair

for him to sit.

“Per our agreement, how do you want to proceed?” Lou asked as he sat back behind his

desk with his hooves folded.

“I was happier as Mel but I want to keep my name. I want to be Uncle Merrik.” He said.

“No,” Lou said flatly.

“No?”

“I said, no.” Lou repeated.

“Why?” Merrik asked. Lou leaned forward with an evil smile on his maw.

“Because of how you’ve been acting. What was the latest stunt you pulled? Walking

around in only your fur, refusing to put on the clothing I bought.” Lou said.

“In fairness my own clothes should have been returned to me. Not those cheap sweats to

gave to everyone. Oh and speaking of clothes… where are my underwear?! I noticed they were

missing from my pile.” Merrik replied.

“Missing?! What do you mean missing? I made sure they were with your clothes.” Lou

said annoyed. Merrik pulled up his shirt to show that there was no waistband behind his pants.

“I bet it was that husband of yours. Probably wanted to sniff them to know what a real fur

smells like.” Merrik mocked.

“I doubt that. We both know that Leggo is many things but a mastermind genius is not

one of them. I can believe he stole them but would have no clue what to do after he had them.

He’d probably have to ask our kids what to do with them.” Lou stopped and thought things over

for a moment.

“One minute,” Lou said and he opened the door to his office. Lyon suddenly ran by with

a pair of boxer shorts on his head as if they were a hat. The boxers were too large and they

covered his eyes as he ran by. Lou stared blankly then let out a sigh.

“LYON!” He shouted and a second later Lyon ran into his office, out of breath, and

pulled up the waistband of the boxers so he could see.

“Yes sir.” Lyon panted.

“What are you doing?” Lou said as he snatched the underwear off Lyon’s head. He

showed the boxers to Merrik and Merrik nodded that they were his. Lou quickly handed them

over to Merrik.

“We was just playing. Dad said he found them.” Lyon said nervously as he saw the

annoyed look on Merrik’s maw as he stuffed them into his pocket. Lou leaned down and put his

hoof on Lyon’s shoulder.

“Tell your dad that he is to wait for me in our room.” Lou ordered and Lyon ran off to tell

his dad.

“Like having an overgrown child sometimes.” Merrik said and Lou nodded in agreement.

“You got that right.”
