I had so many leftover ideas that I made further edits to the poem. Enjoy!

“Race Within”

Little movement, frequent stops,

Engines idle; our patience drops.

We`re all in a hurry to get to places.

There are hardened looks in all our faces.

Traffic begins to take its toll.

Deep frustration takes our control.

We can’t take this anymore.

It is now an all-out war.

Be careful when we redline.

Life is now on the line.

Instead, we must practice virtue.

It depends upon us through . . .

The race within!

Life’s too short to just give up.

Opportunities will just dry up.

The only way to get back on track

Is just keep moving and don’t look back.

You’re invaluable—an inspiration.

Why not fuel your imagination?

Make every effort to make new friends.

They make life better around all bends.

Join a club; race on tracks.

Streets aren’t meant for maniacs.

Start out slow and steady.

You’ve gotta always be ready

For the unexpected, the unknown,

Especially your own . . .

Race within!

During our lives until our deaths,

Our hearts savour all of our breaths.

We don’t live forever; we’ll often cry.

This is our chance; live free or die!

We all have passions; we are what we drive.

Working together will keep these alive.

Write your story; ignite your fire.

Set an example to help inspire.

Never stop learning; never stop teaching.

Our lives are more fulfilling

When we’re sharing our knowledge of . . .

The race within!

The green flag waves; the engines roar;

Petal to the metal, more and more!

Mind and body both intertwine

From the start to the finish line.

Do whatever that it takes;

And make sure to use the brakes.

Follow the rules; watch your attitude.

Refrain from violence; don’t start a feud.

Respect your opponents; respect your crew.

Without their help, what would you do?

To release potential, you must at least

Harness your strength to chain your beast.

Enjoy the triumph of winning.

Every race is a new beginning.

But before you begin . . .

Race within!

Race within!

Race within!

Race within!
