Two Distinct Islands In A Shared Sea
Wrote this vent piece a while ago. It’s wrapped in metaphor and a bit less heavy than usual. A tale of two islands getting by in their tiny sea. Originally posted in February 2023.
Two Distinct Islands In A Shared Sea
By: A.X. Bueno
Two islands floating out there
Separated by a small sea that on the surface is fairly bare
Two islands disconnected yet joined by the waters path
Distinct and shaped by different things like inhabitants or a storms wrath
Sometimes these islands have come into conflict
There’s just that kind of friction because the way they both are, not quite able to click
But they try to keep things quiet and to themselves more often than not
Or at least one of them tries that, hoping to stay out of trouble as time has taught
The other is a bit more loud and unafraid of stirring things up or being seen
Regardless of differences both just want the waters to stay serene
Both want peace but there’s moments when they question or can’t bear each other
There’s also those outside forces coming at them one after another
Those are just minor annoyances at worst though depending on how things go
It’s expected they deal with outsiders and stay sharp and in the know
Even if things can be confusing sometimes and info can be delayed or slow
Which is another source of tension at times
But both islands still need to work together regardless of whatever the situation’s climes
So they both continue to work sometimes begrudgingly together in their shared sea
Getting along well enough most times and trying to keep things smooth and happy
