The lost reader's guide to the werewolf world
A guide to the werewolf world
Introduction
This document is a living guide to the werewolf world. As the stories are written, lore will continue being added to this document.
This document is provided as a guide for context and to provide a place in which the actions of characters may be justified.
This document is objective and does not have the unreliable narration that the series often have. However, this document is expected to change over the course of time.
This document avoids spoiling critical elements; these may only be discovered through reading.
Citation system
Throughout this wiki page are a system of citations used to show where each element comes up. It uses the format [series name]p[chapter/part number]. Below are a series of series and their respective acronyms:
[unwritten as-far] Charlie's Chronicles (CC)
[WIP] Alexander's Accounts (AA)
Indebted (IB)
[unwritten as-far] Safe world, sequel to Alexander's Accounts (SW)
[WIP] La Tramuntana, sequel to indebted (LT)
[not fitted into a story yet] (NA)
As well as this, three-letter acronyms act as links to other pages:
The lost reader's guide to the werewolf world (GDE)
The Northern Spanish dictionary / Qamufo hivatalofo del lifana fepentri (DIC)
Various journal posts (JNL (ISO 8601 string))
As a convention, works are only cited when the act of citation does not spoil the story.
For illustrations of the story, the “i” affix is appended, with for the chapter the illustration is specific to. If there are more then one illustration, a number after a dot will be added to indicate which illustrating is being referred to.
Should “sn” be appended, this relates to the “Some notes” section at the end and what's released there.

Species
Humans
Referred to as “ugly generalists” by the anti-humans (AAp8), have more delicate fingers then the werewolves, better finger-specific control (AAp4), and bodies that are some part smaller (IBp6), the average human being approximately 62.5% the size of a werewolf (IBp6, "two humans are the size of one and a quarter werewolves" 1.25/2).
Werewolves
Bigger and burlier humans with “weird skulls”; drawn as humans up to the head (AAi7).
Have started their own society in a separate realm.
Are lactose intolerant (AAp8).
Politics
Werewolf World
The werewolf world is split into two main parts; the north and the south. The south has a very much anti-human attitude and has provided bounties for killing humans (AAp5), resulting in a gang having formed with the goal of “destroying” humans.
There is a total population of about one million (AAp7), which is consistently growing due to the cost of having children not being too high (AAp7sn).
However, the government has since then recognised that humans are important to the economy, namely in jobs requiring more precise handwork or jobs for smaller bodies.
There have always been exceptions for medical staff, who are overwhelmingly human for their relative sterility (as they have less hair) and more precise hands, useful for when dealing with the intricate machinery of bodies.
The northern government, on the other hand, has humans who roam free and work with the werewolves in all cases.
The north seeks independence from the south.
There is an electricity system and series of motorways, promoting connectivity.
The werewolf world is roughly the size of Spain with a Scandinavian climate to the north and a “south France” climate to the south. The sea surrounding the nation simply loops back to the other coast.
The socioeconomic structure of both sides is very much social benefits based and very much tax based. The north, however, charges higher taxes yet provide way more grants.
Human relations and transport
There are several portals spread across earth's surface; the original in Wyoming (IBp7), one in desert somewhat near a midpoint between Zaragoza and Lleida (IBp11), and one in the Australian outback. There are others located in other continents.
These portals were originally used for a different purpose (NA) but were repurposed by Timodore (IBp7) to allow them their own place.
At one point, a small band of humans gained control over the import/export industry and control the flow of money between the two areas. Their interest is in keeping secrecy to ensure that the market stands no chance of being liberalised. (NA)
The werewolf world does not have the capacity to produce many materials. Specifically, sterile hospital resources (yet there are plastic manufacturers (AAp7)) are hard to get by. Through the small band of humans, the werewolf government pays a few earthen governments to provide the system for the werewolf world to send out "supply-getters". One group drive from Spain to the UK and raid NHS hospitals using a specific card to get materials (AAp6).
One unfortunate fact is that there are werewolf drivers, who are seen by the (southern) government to be more trustworthy and loyal. They bug their human supply-getters and have them recorded to prevent information leakage. (IBp11)
Every portal is surrounded by a series of increasingly secured fences controlled by “the military”. Near the portal is a small “customs building” which processes everything that passes. (IBp11)
The werewolf world also manages to steal modern society with a significant lag in development. Modern technology, in particular, is hard to come by.
Human World
The human world remains mostly identical to the IRL world (all), save for the various experiments Samuel Prachet-Irving did and the government's cover-ups, it remains entirely identical.
IRL events, as such, affect the human world and sometimes filter through to the werewolves.
For example, Coronavirus made life somewhat difficult due to a reduction of supplies. (NA)
History
Since humans have first arrived, the werewolf realm has existed as a place inhabited by “sirens”. They spoke archaic tongues and spread language to the humans, having corrupted them with their strange voices. (LTp2)
In the 1830s, Samuel Prachet-Irving, of Wyoming, developed Agent Brown, a DNA-mixing agent which can be used to form many different creatures formed of mixed DNA. This knowledge was spread to him by the sirens, who likely had a conspiracy. (LTp2)
This was first used to combine horse chesnut and mint (AAp1), which killed many “test subjects”.
Later, this was used on human and wolf DNA (IBp7), forming a series of abdominations and eventually a werewolf. The werewolves were not intelligent at first.
The reasoning for this, it turns out, were such that Samuel Prachet-Irving could act out his fantasies. This remains a point of contention for the werewolves, who saw themselves as abused. (AAp8, minority view in a book),
A werewolf eventually found a “protestant outpost”, raided it, and were shot. It survived because it was merely a pistol bullet, even if it struck the heart. (IBp7)
Timodore, a wizard, opened the portals and pushed the werewolves into their own realm. (IBp7) From here, werewolves still raided the human world. The colonial government .eventually struck a deal to prevent unreasonable exposure.
The sirens were mass-killed in this incident. (LTp2)
All recipies and stocks of Agent Brown were destroyed, alongside Samuel Prachet-Irving, in a raid against his properties enacted by the government to “protect the human race”.
The Spanish Empire moved northwards through the portal and into the werewolf world, developing a colony with the werewolves in the north. This allowed the Northern Spanish dialect to be formed and the werewolves to live with humans.
The Spanish Empire, due to neglect, ended up losing this northern colony, which fell under the control of the southern werewolvian government.
A lie was shared, that the werewolves were “destroyed” after having been created, and persists into the modern day (IBp7)
Eventually, control slipped from the federal government and into this small band of humans, which persists into the modern day.
In the 90s, the True Vigilantes forms as a niche violence-based human-killing gang. The government then brought in the anti-human bounty.
At one point, Charlie begins his story.
In 2024, at the start of Alexander's Accounts after a thug is killed (AAp1), the gang grows in influence as they spread rage across the south (AAp3).
After an economic downturn, they disband as the bounty scheme evaporates. The human population is reduced.
The north performs an independence ballot and they are subsequently raided by the southern government, who kills a lot of humans.
The launch an invasion south (IBp6) but due to their weak military, are pushed back. They have done damage, though.
Fictional things
Mentofruit (AAp1)
A semi-spiky mint-flavored fruit which is often used as a way to brush teeth when the character are lazy.
Formed by combining horse chestnut and mint using agent brown.
“The disease” (AAp9)
A disease which affects only humans, causing an itchy bleeding rash and brainfog, ending in a “lobotomy” caused by destruction of the frontal lobe.
Can be cured by a pill, normally in large hard-to-swallow form designed for werewolves, taken “twice daily”.
It is very uncommon for a werewolf to procure this disease from humans due to a slightly different immune system.
The paint-fungus
A paint mixed with fungus that provides a specific semi-desirable texture and style, yet kill humans quite readily.
Electrical system
The werewolf world uses the archaic type L plug for various historical reasons, such as the fact most of the electricians were imported from Spain to work in the North (NA).
This plug is compatible with the “europlug” (type C), a common plug (IBp1, passing reference to a heater, no comment on the fact it was a modern design) used in Europe, which thus becomes where the Werewolf world imports devices from.
Adapters are availale for when earthed appliances need to exist.
Electricity is 240 volts and mostly produced in the North (and quite a bit still managed by the south), providing a small but consistent income source for their government.
Herricane
Name is a portmanteu of heroin and cocaine. A mix of both, but more powerful.
Developed by Samuel Prachet-Irving for the werewolves. Incredibly potent and an overdose is incredibly easy for humans.
Causes a high.
Languages
English
The English used in the werewolf world is fairly standard. Names happen to be overly-posh victorian names.
Nothern Spanish
Northern Spanish is a “dialect” of Spanish with divergent vocabulary. S merges into f and z into v.
All Northern Spanish words look nothing like English by design, save for a small handful like “sobredosis”. They either come from Latin or Arabic in most cases, but a bunch of other
Where Northern Spanish is quotes, translations are often provided, either in some notes or through the story itself.
Spanish
Spanish itself is somewhat uncommon and mainly provided as a “standard northern language”.
The south prefers to use Spanish; Northern Spanish speakers will generally know Spanish.
The only exceptions are in important places, such as the portals.
Series
Below are a series of series and their significance to the worldbuilding and atmosphere.
No spoilers beyond the “this is where the main conflict comes in” are provided.
Indebted
Follows a new person to the werewolf world as they navigate the internal politics of an illegal buisness and the (biased) opinions of their colleges.
It's very clear that they're werewolf-sexual which the colleges use as a way to instill hope.
Alexander's Accounts
Follows a more experienced person as they tackle the world with their boyfriend, showing a more involved and “on-the-ground” perspective
Alexander performs quite a role in quite a few lives, using his werewolf boyfriend as a minion when he himself cannot perform the actions
Charlie's Chronicles
Follows a worker as they have to balance hairdressing, their human world freelancing, and the risk presented to them by the gang. He has less support then Alexander
La Tramuntana
Follows indebted's protagonist as they try starting a business in the North and realise just how difficult it can get.
Safe World
A more fluffy story which follows a protagonist as they try to find their boyfriend and run off to live happily ever after in a small village of the countryside, meeting various struggles.
Story-corrections and clarifications
Below are a series of corrections and clarifications to help provide a way around the unreliable narration often used to characterise.
In indebted, the werewolves are cited as forming a large part of the earthen furry community. These are lies manufactured by the humans to keep Newbie hopeful; the furry industry in the werewolf world much smaller then the equivalent on earth
In AAp1, the coffee is mentioned as having “milk”. This is milk is not cow's milk (as AAp8 makes clear) and was expensive to produce
In indebted, the main character is kidnapped into the werewolf world by loan sharks. This is a careless maneuver which only happens as the brothel provides the bribe money to maybe pass the portals. There's a reason the kidnapping took so long after the debt to perform.
