Return Of The Guardian CH 8
Imported from SF2 with no description.
“Starflight." Thorn greeted him. “Did you finally let Michael heal you?"
Starflight nodded, and Thorn smiled. “Good, I'm happy for you."
“Thanks"
“Where is my daughter?" She asked.
Sleeping in my room, or talking with Moon in my room.
“I don't know, but I can go find her. You're here to talk to Glory, right?"
“Yes, queenly duties and such, but I also want to see my daughter, can you bring her to me right away?"
“Sure."
Thorn nodded and made her way towards Glory's temporary room. As soon as she was out of sight, Starflight rushed into his room and found Sunny and Moon chatting lightly.
“Oh, hey Starflight, we were just talking about you." Sunny told him
“I talked to Winter." He replied.
“Ooh." Moon replied. “Give the details."
“He and Lynx are dating."
Sunny smiled. “All according to plan."
“Also, your mother is here." Starflight added.
Her smile faltered. “She's going to go crazy, isn't she?"
“Yep, but we have to do it, Qibli ran off in a hurry when he found out that he knew before she did."
Moon snorted. “Of course he did, I'll let you to go."
She got up and walked to the exit of the cave.
Wonder how her mother feels.
Moon froze, and turned to him. “She doesn't know, and I have no idea how to tell her."
Sunny turned and shot a confused look at Starflight.
“Her mother." He explained.
“Oh, I thought you were talking about his mother, and grandfather as well." Sunny replied.
“We aren't going to tell them, but they will likely find out after the fact." Moon told them.
Then she left, Sunny turned and sighed. “Better get this over with. She is going to coddle me so hard."
They walked out of the cave, and made their way to Glory's room. Thorn and Glory were peering at a scroll on the desk while Deathbringer stood at attention near the entrance to the room. He smirked at Starflight and Sunny as they passed, and mouthed 'good luck' as they walked over to the queens.
“Hi mom." Sunny called.
Thorn's head snapped up and she smiled at her daughter. “Sunny, there you are."
She walked over and wrapped her daughter in a tight hug. After a moment, she let her go, and stepped back to look at her daughter.
“Something feels different, is something wrong?"
“No, nothings wrong, the opposite in fact." Sunny told her.
“What is it?"
“Promise not to freak out?" Sunny looked up at her.
“Is it a good thing?" Thorn replied, then gasped. “Sunny, are you pregnant?"
“No! Mom, I got engaged." Sunny replied.
“With who?" Thorn gasped.
Sunny looked over to Starflight, who was trying to hide in the caves only shadow. When she motioned him over, he walked over and joined her side. Thorn gasped again and smiled.
“Finally."
She wrapped the two young dragons in a tight hug.
“There is one thing I have to tell you two." Starflight told them.
Thorn glanced over at Glory.
“It's alright, she already knows." Starflight added.
Thorn nodded
“I talked to my father this morning, and found that his mother, was Queen Battlewinner."
Sunny jumped and turned to him. “Really."
“I'm a prince, and you're a princess. Which means that our daughters would not only have a right to the sandwing throne, but the nightwing one as well. Our children also have a high chance of being animus as well." Starflight told them.
Thorn turned to Sunny. “This engagement is faster than I expected. Are you sure you're not pregnant?"
Sunny blushed. “No mom, I'm not pregnant, we just didn't want to wait any longer."
“Oh, so you want to have this wedding soon?" Thorn replied
“Soon-ish. But we don't care."
“Should I call a wedding planner?"
“Were going to do a non-traditional wedding, and Michael is going to officiate. I want you to be there of course, but we are limiting the guest list." Sunny told her.
Thorn's face fell. “I was hoping we could throw you a royal wedding."
“Throw one for Qibli and Moon." Sunny replied. “We don't want anything big."
“Parties aren't banned though." Starflight spoke up.
Sunny gave him a surprised look.
“What?" Starflight laughed. “We got to celebrate."
Thorn smiled brightly. “One afterparty coming up."
Michael walked into the room. “Why are you calling me? I am not your servant."
“I was asking, not demanding." Thorn corrected. “I want to collaborate on the wedding of my daughter and Starflight."
“It's all ready. Guest list is Clay, Peril, Tsunami, Riptide, Glory, Deathbringer, You, Smolder, Onyx, Fierceteeth, Strongwings, if I can get them out of prison, Qibli, Moon, Kinkajou, Turtle, Anemone, Winter, Lynx, Cricket, Blue, Luna, Swordtail, Willow, Sundew, Bumblebee, and Webs. I have their clothes, and a location."
“That's a small guest list?" Thorn asked.
“A royal wedding means everyone would show up, the whole kingdom." Michael replied “And the nightwings too."
Thorn nodded. “Good point."
“When do you want it?" He turned to the couple.
“Maybe in a month?" Sunny turned to Starflight, who nodded.
“A month sounds nice."
Michael nodded. “I'm leaving for Pantala in a few hours, I'm going to the Poison Jungle to clear out my vault."
“Don't tell Sundew, she'll insist on seeing the vault herself." Sunny told him.
“She'll die halfway there." Michael replied
Thorn snorted. “I would never go there. Why did you store your stuff there again?"
“I created that jungle, and evolved every deadly plant it had, except for the mind control one, of course. That jungle protects those super powerful items from falling into the wrong hands. The mind stone, which was what created the plant, can be used to mind control any dragon or human within sight. All one zombie would have to do is look at a regular dragon and they would be controlled."
Sunny shivered. “Glad we didn't have to fight that."
“Why does such an item exist?" Thorn asked.
“I didn't make it; I stole it from some dark sorcerer that was about to use it to take over an entire planet." Michael told her
Thorn looked over at Glory. “Back to work?"
Glory nodded
“Let's get this done." Thorn sighed.
Sunny and Starflight walked out of the cave, then made their way over to the main hall.
“So." Starflight spoke. “Classes start tomorrow."
Sunny smiled. “Yeah, it should be fun. Moon was stressing about it though."
“Do you like your classes?"
“Yeah, art, music, and advanced writing is a perfect fit for me. What about you, what is advanced reader's club?"
“Basically, I assign them a large scroll to read, and we get back together to discuss it."
Sunny nodded. “Seems good for you."
They walked out of the academy, and took flight. Starflight looked out at the woods around him, taking every detail, and glad to be hunting again. He soon spotted a deer, and pounced on it. After he finished it off, he realized how hard he was breathing. Sunny landed next to him and smiled.
“I'm out of shape." He panted.
“You've been blind for years, you're perfect." Sunny rested her head on his neck.
He offered the deer, and she took it gratefully.
“I didn't realize how hungry I was." She told him.
He smiled, and couldn't help but feel pride as his mate ate something he provided for her.
“So, who else should we tell?" He asked. “Kinkajou and Turtle?"
Sunny nodded. “Then our Pantalan friends."
They ate the rest of their meal, then made their way back as the sun had reached its highest point. It took them a while to find the rainwing and seawing, but they eventually tracked them down in the underground lake with Tamarin and Anemone.
“Might as well tell them too." Sunny told him.
“I always thought it was interesting how both Anemone and Turtle fell in love with rainwings." Starflight smiled. “It's adorable."
Kinkajou whistled, and called them over. “Hey, were over here, come here."
The couple chuckled and made their way to the rock outcropping that the rainwings were sitting on.
“What are you guys doing?" Sunny asked.
“Just hanging around on our last day of freedom." Anemone answered.
Sunny glanced up, and noticed Pike swimming on the other side of the lake, pretending to mind his own business.
“Who has my classes, or Starflight's" Sunny replied.
“The Jade winglet has your art; Turtle has your music. And Anemone has your advanced writing, thanks to Queen Coral." Kinkajou told her.
“I also have your art; the Silver winglet is in it too for first period." Anemone told her.
Sunny beamed. “Nice."
“I scored a study hall instead of a second period." Turtle told them. “I have been already given a pass for many of the classes I already know all the stuff to, like Aquatic language."
“That's for the younger dragonets." Anemone told him.
“I know."
“So." Sunny interrupted him. “We have some news, and figured you would want to hear it."
The group perked up.
“Were engaged."
Kinkajou looked confused. “To who?"
“Ha!" A voice rang from below the rock cliff.
Trice climbed up onto the rock, laughing. “My dad owes me five bars of gold."
There was no point to that, money isn't really a thing to us. Michael spoke.
“You made a bet?" Sunny exclaimed, slightly offended.
Turtle whispered something into Kinkajou's ear, and she brightened.
“Oh, to EACH OTHER. That makes sense, why didn't you say that?"
“It was implied." Trice told her.
Anemone and Tamarin smiled, then Tamarin gasped and looked over at Starflight.
“Did you get your eyes healed?"
I was wondering how long it would take them to notice.
“Yes, I wanted to see at our wedding." Starflight smiled. “Which your invited too, of course."
“You know, Thorn and Smolder's is in a week." Kinkajou told them.
“Oh, I forgot to tell you that Starflight." Sunny replied. “Whoops, also Qibli and Moon's is like, four days after."
Then yours, probably Clay and Peril, then Glory and Deathbringer, Luna and Swordtail, Tsunami and Riptide will be married in a year, and Cricket and Blue sometime in between then and now. Lot's of weddings in such a small period of time, but that happens when your all hatched around the same time.
Wow Starflight thought I should get some suits that complement my wings.
Way ahead of you, I got something for both of you to wear on special occasions that complements each other perfectly.
You should show us when you get back.
We'll see if you have time.
“How do you like the new members of the Jade winglet." Sunny asked.
“It's so weird now that it's only Turtle and I left. Cherry's nice, but kind of distant. I think the nightwing, Bloodshed needs help though; he doesn't talk, like, at all. Azure and Cane, the hivewing and silkwing, are like best friends, and aren't talking to the leafwing, Snowberry. Which isn't fair because she's super nice and sweet. Bronze and Finch are okay, they just ignore us, but they talk if we ask them questions. But Permafrost just sits there and acts mad, like Winter."
“I'll talk to Bloodshed." Starflight told them.
I wonder what's going on with him?
PTSD, he lost both his parents a year ago, and hasn't gotten over it. His sister, Lucidmind, has totally abandoned him and he needs a friend.
“What about you Tamarin?" Sunny asked
“It's fine, they keep their distance from me because my girlfriend's the princess of the seawing kingdom, but were functioning, that's about it." Tamarin shrugged.
Anemone blushed, but also smirked. “The Pantalans in my winglet aren't doing great."
“What happened?"
“The silkwing, I think her name is Silver, blames the leafwing for the death of her parents when the other leafwings burnt down that one hive. The hivewing was from a different hive, but he agrees with her, and it's not going over well."
“Maybe Michael can move them." Starflight replied.
Unfortunately, any moves right now would cause worse problems, Nightshade is a sapwing, I intentionally choose her for that winglet hoping that Silver would see the difference.
Starflight looked around, and realized Michael was talking to all of them.
“Nevermind."
“We'll, I think I'm late for sun time." Kinkajou replied cheerily. “C'mon Tamarin… Oh, sorry, reflex."
Still used to her being blind? Starflight wondered. Sunny was still guiding me, but in a way that felt like I was guiding her.
“It's fine, let's go." Tamarin followed the cheery rainwing through the tunnel.
Sunny joined Starflight's side, and he cast a wing over her. She snuggled against him, and they walked back to their sleeping cave.
Sunny worked on her lesson plan for tomorrow while Starflight installed some light sources in his room, he hadn't needed them before, since he never really had guests. But now that he could see again, he wanted to make the room bright during the day.
“What's your first art lesson?" Starflight asked.
“Making dyes, pigments and stuff."
“That's going to be messy."
“Not as messy as Moon was, I hope." Sunny chuckled. “Don't tell her I said that."
Starflight turned and sat next to her. “So, the whole 'telling your mother' thing went better than we hoped."
“Michael running in to rescue us definetly helped"
“Wonder how he's doing."
“It's the Poison Jungle, he's probably fine."
The vault is clear now, and its guardian as well. But I might be delayed because I found something interesting in the Sky Kingdom, I'll update you as this 'situation' progresses.
“What is it?" Sunny asked
Something to do with Chameleon, it's not him, but I think it's another one of Scarlet's prisoners. I can't seem to reach whoever is inside, it looks like they've been imprisoned for many years. The shell is a female, and from what I can tell the real dragon is also a female, I think.
“Who could it be?"
She is either a nightwing, or a seawing. But I think she's a nightwing. I have to go; I'll be back in a day or two.
“Hmm, wonder who he found." Sunny spoke.
“Probably a random nightwing Scarlet found spying on them during the war."
Oh, almost forgot, Glory decided to let Fierceteeth and Strongwings go, they should have found you by now.
“Wait, what?" Starflight exclaimed.
Michael didn't respond.
“Uhm, should I leave? I don't know how she'll react to me." Sunny asked.
“How she'll react! Sunny, they kidnapped you!" Starflight turned to her.
“For like, two seconds, then I followed them to the Scorpion's den, and found my mother." Sunny replied. “So, everything turned out fine for me, but they got imprisoned, several times."
Strongwings poked his head through the cave entrance and looked over at the two dragons, then he turned and called to someone.
“They're here."
Starflight grabbed Sunny before she could leave, and pulled her to his side, wrapping a wing around her. Fierceteeth walked in and raised an eyebrow at her brother.
“Finally brought up the nerve to tell her how you feel?"
“I told her before you even met her." Starflight replied.
She raised the other eyebrow. “So, you're a couple now?"
“Engaged, if you must know."
Fierceteeth's smirk faltered, and she glanced at Strongwings for a second. Sunny saw this, but said nothing.
“Wow, and here I thought you were painfully slow in the head." She replied. “Or too fast, like your father."
Sunny growled lightly; Starflight looked at her with a surprised expression.
“What are you going to do?" Fierceteeth chuckled.
Sunny shot her a glare, but still said nothing.
“Why are you here?" Starflight asked.
His sister looked up at him, and smiled. “Glad you asked, Glory said that the only way she would let me stay out of prison is if I could get you, Sun here, Mastermind, Thorn, and Deathbringer to sign this scroll that said I apologized and meant it. I already got Deathbringer to sign, on the condition that we never speak again. Now it's your turn."
Fierceteeth took out a scroll, and set it on the ground.
“What about Strongwings?" Starflight replied. “I heard he got pardoned, why are you here?"
Strongwings froze, and looked over to Fierceteeth. “Her" He grunted, then said nothing else.
Fierceteeth softened, and her smile became just a bit more real.
Oh, that makes a lot more sense. Starflight thought. He doesn't have to do any of this, but he still does so she will notice him. He shared a knowing look with Sunny, I think she noticed, and now she relies on him, and hopefully cares for him back.
“Well?" Starflight turned to his sister.
“Oh, right. I'm sorry for hurting you, kidnapping your girlfriend, and almost turning you over to Queen Scarlet."
“And?" Sunny finally spoke.
Fierceteeth looked confused for a second. “Oh, and sorry for insulting you."
Starflight nodded, he picked up the scroll, and signed his name. Fierceteeth smiled gratefully then turned to Sunny.
“I was hoping we could do this in private." She mumbled.
“Anything you can say to me can be said in front of Starflight." Sunny replied confidently.
Fierceteeth sighed. “I'm sorry for kidnapping you, attempting to bring you back to Scarlet, and for hurting you in any way. I never insulted you, but you probably think I did so I'm sorry for that too."
Sunny paused, and for a second Starflight thought she might not accept. It's Sunny. He chided himself. It's not in her being to stay mad at someone. That's one of the many reasons why I love her so much.
“I forgive you, but I also have a condition."
Fierceteeth held her breath, and Sunny whispered something into her ear. Fierceteeth let out a sigh and nodded.
“I guess I can do that."
She looked over at Strongwings, and motioned to him. He nodded, and they left.
“What did you tell her to do?" Starflight asked her.
“I told her to tell Strongwings how she truly felt about him." Sunny answered.
Starflight beamed. “You are the kindest, smartest, nicest, and wisest dragon ever. I love you so much."
She looked stunned at his reaction, and stood frozen when he hugged her.
“I think I want to go to bed now, too much interaction for me." She replied.
Starflight turned off all the lights as Sunny relaxed on the bed. He curled around her and sighed.
“Night Sun."
“Night Star."
