Return Of The Guardian CH 10

Starflight smiled at the scene around him, Sunny was beaming, and talking with Onyx next to him. A lot of people were glancing over at him, looking at his cape and suit. Michael definetly had made the right suit for him. He also noticed that they were looking over at Sunny as well. Starflight resisted the urge to cover her with his wing, because they were under his cape. Blaze was standing with a few other sandwings, showing off her jewelry and chatting idly. Michael landed at the altar, and cleared his throat. Onyx and Sunny walked over to the altar and took their places on Michael's left, while two sandwings took Michael's right. Smolder walked into the square, beaming proudly, and stood in front of Michael. The talking stopped, and all eyes went to the altar. Sunny smiled at Starflight, her eyes gleaming, and he smiled back. After a moment, some light music started playing, and everyone turned to look where Smolder came from. Thorn walked into the square, her crown and necklace gleaming brightly. She was smiling and she glanced over at Starflight. He could tell she was a little surprised by his suit, but she shook it off and winked at him. She stepped up on the altar, and smiled at Smolder.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, we are gathered here today to celebrate the marriage between two loving dragons. I believe they have vows?"
Smolder nodded and stepped forward. “Thorn, I vow to love and respect you, to hold you and care for you, and to be there for you as long as I live."
Thorn smiled, and looked right into Smolder's eyes. “Smolder, I vow to love you, to be by your side, to care for you, and to never order you to do anything, for any reason. I vow that we will be equals, in life, and in soul, forever."
“Thorn, do you take Smolder, as your husband, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, from now until the end of time."
“Yes." Smolder replied.
“Smolder, do you take Thorn, as your husband, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, from now until the end of time."
“I do." Thorn smiled.
“Then I, with the power invested by me, as the Ultimate Guardian, Husband and Wife, you may now kiss the bride."
The two kissed, and the crowd sheered. Michael pulled out a small glass sphere and held it in the air.
“May this sphere symbolize the union between these two sandwings, and may their lives be plentiful and full of love."
The newlyweds turned to their daughters, and smiled at them. Thorn called Starflight over, and he joined them off to the side.
“Look, I know this might be weird, but I hope we can all be a happy family together." Thorn told them.
“Why is he here?" Onyx pointed at Starflight.
He nodded, and tried to walk away, but the other three sandwings stopped him, and Sunny pulled him by her side.
“They're getting married in less than a month, he will be family too." Smolder told his daughter.
Sunny nuzzled him, and he smiled brightly. Onyx looked surprised.
“It's in a month? Why did nobody tell me?"
“I brought it up while you were getting fitted for your dress." Smolder replied.
“Speaking of dresses, what's with the black roses?" Onyx turned to Sunny.
“They are for Starflight, his rose and trim are for me." Sunny replied
“It's cute." Thorn replied. “Like Michael's purple rose and trim are for his wife, even though she isn't here right now."
They talked for a moment, but Starflight felt out place among the sandwings. Sunny held him close, their tails twined. After a while, the crowd moved to the ballroom for the afterparty. Starflight sat down with Sunny beside him, and Moon and Qibli across from him. Their eyes were wide, and they were looking around.
“You guys excited for your excited for your wedding?" Starflight asked.
Qibli nodded, and Moon grabbed his talons and squeezed them. The next few hours consisted of food being passed around, some speeches, including Sunny giving a very heartfelt one for the happy couple, and then some dessert. While Starflight was digging into his slice of cake, Michael walked up hurriedly and greeted them.
“Hey, the first titan is rising, I'll be back in a few days." He told them, then walked off.
“That was… odd." Sunny replied, making eye contact with her mother.
Thorn frowned as he left, but smiled again and turned back to her husband. Suddenly, a bunch of musicians rushed into the room, and the happy couple walked out to take their first dance. The first song started playing, and everybody watched with a smile as the two sandwings stood face to face, swaying with the beat. After a few minutes, Sunny grabbed Starflight, and pulled her in to join them. Thorn smiled and wrapped her wings around the two. Then they all started dancing, Sunny looked into Starflight's eyes, smiling brightly and dancing with the slow tune. Eventually, the tune stopped, and Thorn walked over to them.
“Is it okay if I steal her for a dance." She asked.
Starflight nodded, and took a step back while Smolder grabbed his daughter and they danced together.
“Such a pretty couple." Blaze spoke, walking up to him
“Yep" Starflight replied. “I'm happy for them."
“You seem to have found a tailor that fits you perfectly." She motioned to his cape.
“Michael altered one of his suits for me." Starflight told him.
“Well, it looks great." Blaze replied. “Everybody else is looking at you."
“I have famous wings I guess; everybody tells me they are the best nightwing wings." Starflight told her.
She nodded. “They were quite pretty, if I remember correctly."
Another sandwing walked up and stood next to Blaze.
“Oh, Starflight, meet my husband, Coyote."
“Husband?"
“Yes, we got married a year ago." She waved her claws. “It wasn't that big of a thing, at his request."
Coyote smiled at Starflight. “I have to thank you for saving my wife's life."
Starflight smiled. “I really wasn't much of a part of that, but you are welcome, and I'm glad it ended the way it did."
The song ended, and Sunny motioned for Starflight to come back. The music style changed to freestyle, and everybody started dancing freely. After a few more hours, Thorn and Smolder left, and the party started to die down. Sunny collapsed against Starflight, and he practically carried her to their room. Sunny settled with a sigh looking over at him.
“I love you." She said to him.
“I love you too." Starflight replied, and joined her.
Starflight woke to the bright desert sun shining into the guest room they were staying in. He looked over at Sunny, who was cuddled with her face buried in his neck. He relaxed back and enjoyed the quiet time. After a few hours, Sunny woke with a groan and stretched.
“Ugh, too much wine." She spoke. “Sun too bright."
Starflight smiled and covered her face with his wing. She sighed and nuzzled up against him.
“How'd you sleep?" She asked.
“Fine, I barely had any wine."
“Maybe I should have held back as well."
“You had fun, Thorn had a blast dancing with you, you should have seen the look on her face."
She chuckled. “You should have seen the look on your face, it actually surprised her."
“Why?"
“The amount of love you had on your face made you look like you had a lot more wine than you were saying." Sunny replied.
“I had a little, but I was fine."
Sunny lowered his wing slightly, and blinked as the light hit her eyes.
“How can you stand this?" She replied, raising the wing again.
Starflight rolled over so he could hide his head under his wing with her.
“Hi."
She giggled, and kissed him. “Hi."
“What do you want to do today?" He asked.
“Hang out with you."
Starflight smiled and nuzzled her. “I like that idea."
“Did Thorn talk to you about your sister?"
“What about her?"
“They can't find her, nor Strongwings. She went to Mastermind, and he signed the paper, and then they disappeared."
They're on honeymoon, and will apologize to Thorn when they get back.
“They got married?" Starflight asked.
They eloped, and I married them.
“Good, I'm happy for them." Sunny replied.
Starflight looked over at her, and smirked. “I can't believe she beat me."
Sunny laughed. “Yeah, darn."
There was a knock on the door, and Sunny poked her head over Starflight's wing as Thorn walked into the room.
“Oh, sorry for the interruption." She spoke.
“It's fine, we were just relaxing." Sunny replied.
There was a moment of silence, most of Sunny's body was still hidden under Starflight's wing.
“So, uhm, I was wondering if you two wanted to come and try out some of our most famous foods." Thorn asked.
“Sure." Sunny replied, then turned to Starflight.
“I could eat." He added, smiling.
Tsunami looked up from her desk with a sigh, with Starflight and Sunny gone, everything was so boring. She looked over at Riptide, he was asleep on the bed, sprawled open invitingly. Whatever Tsunami thought, I'll finish this tomorrow. She walked over to bed and fell into it. Riptide smiled and curled his wings around her before falling back asleep. Tsunami woke to a clatter as somebody rushed into the room.
“Tsunami." It was Deathbringer. “Come quick, something happened with Glory."
Tsunami leapt out of the bed, and Riptide got up and followed her out of the academy and the three of them took flight. It took them an hour to fly to the rain kingdom. They made their way past a few dozen worried rainwings, and flew straight into the infirmary. Glory was sitting on one of the beds, her scales were a pale green, and she looked very sick.
“What happened to her?" Tsunami asked
“I don't know, she has been tired lately, then she collapsed this afternoon. Nobody knows what's happening." Deathbringer replied.
“How long has she been acting different?" Riptide spoke.
“It started a few months ago, she hasn't been sleeping well, and she doesn't have as much energy as she used to have. Then I noticed that her scales haven't been as bright as usual. She refused to talk about it though, and I don't know what to do." Deathbringer looked like he wasn't getting much sleep either.
One of the medics walked up to them. “Has she been getting her suntime?"
“The usual amount, yes" Deathbringer answered.
“Then I have no idea what is affecting the queen, she should be fine."
Michael should know what's happening. Tsunami thought. Michael? This whole mind-reading thing is weird.
What is it?
Glory's sick, like really sick, she might be dying. We don't know what to do.
Of course she gets sick while I'm fighting the first titan. I can't help you right now, I'll be back in a few days. Trice should be able to heal her, she's on her way now.
“Michael says that his daughter is on her way to help." Tsunami told everyone.
“Where is he?" Deathbringer asked.
“Fighting a titan." Tsunami replied.
Glory shuddered, and Deathbringer cuddled up next to her, keeping her warm. After a few hours of Tsunami pacing and Riptide watching her, Trice finally landed and entered the room.
“Where is she?"
Deathbringer lifted his wing, and got up from his place beside Glory. Trice walked over and looked Glory up and down.
“Rainwings are known to have an illness that is called 'wilting.' This is the reason why you all live here in a carefree lifestyle. When a rainwing is overstressed, depressed, or anything like that, they tend to get sick, and eventually die."
Deathbringer gasped, and looked over at Glory. “She's dying?"
“Wilting has many symptoms, it starts with tiredness, loss of sleep and energy, sensitivity, and hostility. Then, the victim collapses, and their heart starts to fail."
“Can you heal her?" Tsunami asked.
“I can, but she needs a lot of rest, relaxation, and suntime to fully recover."
Deathbringer nodded. “I will make sure she relaxes."
“You need to make sure nothing stresses her out, and that she doesn't overwork her brain."
He nodded again, and Trice walked over and laid her talons on Glory's shoulders.
“Save the rainwing." She muttered.
“The prophecy." Tsunami murmured. “It's finished now."
Glory gasped, and her eyes flew open. “Deathbringer."
“I'm here." The nightwing walked up and nuzzled her.
“What happened?"
“You collapsed, we know why you have been tired and irritable lately. There is an old rainwing illness called 'wilting.' It happens to dragons who are overstressed or depressed."
Glory looked around, and noticed the three others. “How long have I been out."
“About ten hours, you made me worried sick." Deathbringer replied. “Now I don't feel so good."
Deathbringer sat down, and Trice caught her attention.
“Hey, you need lots of rest, relaxation, and peace. Doctor's orders."
“You're a doctor?"
“Yep, and you better do what I order, or I will make you." Trice replied, and walked out of the hut.
Deathbringer sighed, and stumbled a little, everybody looked over at him.
“Sorry, I didn't get any sleep, for the past few weeks." Deathbringer explained.
“You both need rest." Tsunami replied. “The rainwing and nightwing kingdoms can handle themselves for a while."
Glory tried to get up, but Deathbringer stopped her.
“I have work to do."
“Did you not hear a word any of us said?" He replied. “No work, no stress."
Tsunami helped Deathbringer bring Glory to their room, and set her down on the bed. Deathbringer fell in after her and wrapped his wings around her.
“You okay?" Tsunami asked.
“I'm good, I've been like this before. A few weeks of rest and I'll be back to normal." He told her. “You can go back now, thanks for the help."
Tsunami nodded, and walked back out of the hut. She sighed heavily as she walked up to Riptide.
“Oh, that scared me." She told him.
“Yeah, getting woken up at the crack of dawn and rushing down here to find out your friend was dying. Then she got healed and everything's going to be okay." Riptide replied.
Tsunami nodded, and looked over at him. “I think we should take a break for a few days, just relax here, and make sure Glory does as well."
Riptide smiled. “That sounds nice, but who will cover our classes. Sunny just dismissed her students, and she won't be back until tomorrow. Then they'll be leaving again with Moon and Qibli to their wedding. Which we will be going to as well."
“Right, lots of weddings, with lots of teachers missing. But we have some substitutes, and for the rest of the classes we can just give them assignments to do by the time we get back."
Riptide nodded. “So, let's go back for now, set up the assignments we need to, then we can come back here for a few days."
“Yeah, that's a good plan." Tsunami replied, and took flight.
