I remembered an old broken heart today
For a few moments, I let myself get carried away
The old smile, the pain filled tears
Everything fresh again after all these years
Man, how I remember looking into your beautiful eyes, looking at a life priceless in every way
Then, I remember why, & how, it all fell apart that day
The last goodbye before time made sure we were no more
How it all broke me, down to my core
Your hands in mine, the flame of joy in your eyes
How it all seemed like a dream to someone truly hypnotized
It was all worth everything, till it wasn’t at all
I hoped many times, you’d wait till I call
In the end, you found another, to keep near
It was a sad expectation, not a fear
So, I wish the best for what could never again be
It’s hard at times, but your happiness is enough for me
It’s reality, either way
So, it’s what I’ll continue to say
