New Roommate
Imported from SF2 with no description.
"So, what do you think of the new apartment, Jen? Are you enjoying your room?" I asked as I slowly unpacked my belongings.
Jen said, "I'm still surprised you discovered this place. Quite comfy and big, yet the price is not too crazy too. Glad you offered me one of the rooms, Aaron!"
"Hey, you're my best friend, and both of us were looking for an affordable price to live close to our workplaces. I want to help you out, so no worries!" I smiled.
Deciding to take a break from packing, I decided to enter her room and ask Jen on what she wants to eat for lunch. "Yo, Jen, what do you eat for lu-... What is that?!"
Jen was stunned, she was trying to push... whatever that is... back under her bed. She wasn't fast enough, though, since I can see a long... tail? as I entered. "Jen, what the hell is that? You never mentioned you got a pet!"
The moment I said the word "pet," I heard a growl from the bed. Jen, regaining her senses, walked close to me, "Please don't say a word about this. He's harmless, I promise!"
I was very confused, "Wait, he? That is clearly a tail there. What is..." I didn't get to finish my sentence as I heard a deep voice, "All right, fine, since the cat is out of the bag, let's just do this."
The monster crawled out of the bed, showing his face first with a set of horns on his head, and stood in front of me and Jen. It reminded me of one of those behemoth enemies you would encounter in Final Fantasy games.
I'm surprised even further as the behemoth suddenly bent down, sporting a very wide grin showcasing his fangs, and grasped my hand. "Pleasure to meet you, Aaron. Jen said a lot of good things since you befriended her in college. My name is Ben."
While I am still trying to process the situation as Ben shook my hand, Jen sighed. "Aaron, meet Ben, the monster under my bed." I blinked, "It's not a dream? Jen, i thought you were planning out stories for the video game you are developing!"
Ben interrupted, "Don't blame Jen. That's the best excuse we came out with, heh. Was hoping I can just live in secret as before, but didn't expect to see you come in."
I regained my composure. "Well, it's interesting to know that monsters are real. So, Ben, I'm surprised you can fit in that gap. Do we... uh... have to supply you with food? We might be having issues with that, because I don't think both of us would be able to buy a lot of supplies."
Ben laughed, "Oh, don't worry about that. I can summon a portal that connects my place with this world, but I can only summon it under Jen's bed for some reason. I'm not here for food, I'm just interested on these video games. You humans sure make some interesting stuff here, way better than the "entertainment" in my world. I have all the supplies I need back home."
Jen kept staring at the floor, "So, uh, Aaron? I know this is a lot, so... I'm fine if you want to get another roommate. Just give me a month to find somewhere else to leave, please?"
Ben whimpered. "Look, Aaron, I'm not here to harm any of you. Hell, we're normally way more careful to prevent people from knowing my presence, I promise you."
To their surprise though, I smiled. "Are you kidding me!? A world filled with friendly monsters sounds interesting, and I always wanted another player for the multiplayer games. Jen sucks at it, and Ben, you might just be able to help me out here."
Jen punched me in the shoulder in a playful manner. "HEY, what do you mean I suck? I helped you a lot in those platforming games." Ben laughed, "Sorry, Jen, but whenever you played games with me, you keep having to use those continues. On the first stage."
"Ben, not you too! I hate you both." She pouted, and the three of us laughed. I proceeded to welcome Ben, "So, none of you are leaving. Welcome to the apartment, Ben, I hope you enjoy staying with us. You don't even have to go back under the bed here. Feel free to use the sofa and the TV in the living room if needed." Ben's tail wagged at that, "Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you! We'll have some fun here, Aaron, Jen."
And thus, a new relationship dynamic was made that day. No one outside apartment 612 knew that the two humans are living with a behemoth. Aaron and Jen would also make some trips into the monster world with Ben guiding them along the way, with friendly monsters welcoming the humans whenever they visit.
