A small creative exercise i've been doing with my writers' group- one of our strategies for improvement is to work on different prompts every week.

I may have bent the prompt some as well. i have \*no\* idea how this story will be received, because it's exceedingly nerdy and probably way too technical for anyone who isn't a molecular biologist to follow the plot.

At over 1400 words it was one of the longer ones i did but i was mostly satisfied and i think i did the prompt justice. arnak considered providing a prompt for a part 2 but eventually decided against it.

Awr(f) writing prompt for 29 august 2024. it's just swamp gas! don't think about it. had a lot of fun with this one. probably only thing i flubbed was the furry setting. it is fantasy, though so it cooouuuld technically be anthropomorphic.
