"rye," cloud yelled near frantically as he approaching the otter lying in the sand. his chest started to feel tight as he saw blood leaking through rye's fur on his leg. "i'm sorry, rye. i'm sorry." "i'm fine cloud," rye said through his gritted teeth.

rye and cloud went back to rye's locker where they took their towels out and dried themselves off the best they could. then rye led cloud back out to the pool.

rye took the opportunity and lunged at the apple. "no!" with cloud's paw holding rye back, the otter managed to move the apple out of rye's reach just in time, and he practically fell on the white otter.

Soft chirping noises breached rye's bedroom, carried upon the back of a chilled breeze, which rustled rye out of his slumber and away from a very pleasant dream. uncertain of which memories were a dream or real, rye was slow to open his eyes and awake.

Only once more in the week did cloud accompany rye to the lagoon, but he did not serve as a distraction while rye worked this time.

"i will, i will," cloud sobbed and threw himself at rye. rye hugged cloud and rested his head on top of cloud's, ignoring the tears that fell onto cloud. cloud's tears drenched rye's shirt and fur. "i love you," rye said weeping.

Asked rye, glancing from the pool to the sea of sand. "if we're able to go for a swim if it gets too hot," cloud answered, following rye onto the sand. "of course," commented rye.
